Shortly after the news of Bob Welch's passing, I was watching a video of his famous strikeout of Reggie Jackson in the '78 World Series. I noticed that Welch - and presumably the rest of the Dodgers - wore a black circular patch with the number '19' on it. This caught my attention because last year the Diamondbacks wore an identical patch to honor 19 firefighters killed up in northern Arizona. Just curious if anyone knows what the '78 Dodgers' '19' patch signified.
