I learned how to wait for what I wanted when I collected baseball cards.
Tomorrows new cards made most collectors forget about the older ones they just paid 4 times what they were worth for.

I see game used going down the same path.
I can't wait to pick up some good items when it crashes.

For $5k you can buy a nice Hank Aaron bat. That is what I would buy.

This is the, "gotta have it while its hot/popular" mentality.

    Never buy hyped up items!

As an Astros' fan, I agree wholeheartedly. Not since Hunter Pence has Houston had a legitimate, homegrown hitting prospect come to town and steal the show. I don't consider Altuve to fit the bill, as he was never considered to be a prospect, because of his diminutive stature.

Right now it's the same guy winning both the Memorial Day hat and jersey. Almost $10,000 for two items of a rookie. Crazy

I remember when Ryan Howard was making noise with his bat as a younger player.

People take huge chances paying big money for these young players.

Absolutely nuts. You can get some HOFers' 1970s jerseys at lower prices than this. Crazy.

The links weren't working. Let me try this again:

    Springer Memorial Day Camo Jersey.

    Springer Memorial Day Camo Cap.

Also, take note that Springer's Memorial Day Camo jersey is going for $7,550 (http://auctions.mlb.com/iSynApp/auct...1=mariners&&qt[0].type=fieldmatch&qt[0].name=title&qt[0].value1=springer).

Even his hat is going for greater than $2,500 (http://auctions.mlb.com/iSynApp/auct...1=mariners&&qt[0].type=fieldmatch&qt[0].name=title&qt[0].value1=springer).

To his credit, Springer is a great talent, and I was impressed by him, during the last time I saw him in person. While he has good plate discipline, Springer has some difficulty making contact in the zone. I don't know what he'll become, but I would never pay $7,550 for an unproven player's jersey.

Have you guys even seen Trout or Cabrera prices at these levels? IMO, Springer would have to become the next Pujols to even have his stuff worth half of what it is going for now.

That Seattle game he did have 2 HR's and 5 RBI.

The 1979 TBTC Rainbow he wore for a game against the Mariners in Seattle is being auctioned off now. $2,775.00 with 8 days left.
This jersey I feel is more desirable since it's a rookie one off TBTC with the pants, helment, and hat.

maybe springer is buying it for himself....wouldn't you want the jersey/bat
from your first major league game?

Even if they let him keep the 1 through 5 innings, perhaps he wants one for him, one for his parents....just a thought /explanation to perhaps why it goes for so much, but at the same time, you would need 2 bidders to get there....

Can players bid on these items? I assume if they cant, family members can?

A nice piece of paper...with no true connection to Springer or the HR. Huge waste of money, what would the ball be worth? 100 grand?

I wouldn't pay $300 for that. The fact a line up card for an unproven player is going for $7,500 dollars is incredible.

    That's like:
    5 Ryan Braun jerseys
A good players world series jersey
...I mean the lost goes on
