Re: 2012 Mother's Day Bats & other gear - Official Thread

Hello I know this is an old thread.. Can anyone tell me the validity of this 2012 Harper Mother's Day bat? Says it was game issued, from Harper 2012 rookie year.. What I have issues with is (1) it doesn't have a pink ribbon for the breast cancer awareness on the bat like all I've seen does.. And (2) the small wooden spot close to hand that doesn't have the pink color on it.. Is this a legit bat?

That spot shouldn't have pink on it. Bat companies have to put the ink dot there for mlb rules.

Im not sure about the missing pink ribbon

Re: 2012 Mother's Day Bats & other gear - Official Thread

The reason I'm asking if this is the ZaneBats Mother's day Harper is because sometimes he gets some odd Louisville slugger bats which have some "manufacturing inconsistencies". For example bats which should be signature models which were inadvertently made as block letter or bats which were not made to player specification ( ex. 34 inches when 34.5 is the player spec).

These bats are by all means pro model bats made for the player but have these inconsistencies. Please note I'm not at all saying Zane is selling these knowing of these inconsistencies. I've brought 5 bats over the last 6 months from Zane which are completely correct in regard to player specs and have pointed out some of the other inconsistencies on several bats he had in inventory.

So if this was the same bat perhaps the ribbon have been inadvertently left off of this bat as from the photos the bat is certainly a pro model bat made for Harper to use.

Bat was made prior to Harper's MLB debut, so that could be the reason it doesn't have the MLB logo and ribbon. Just a guess. Haha

No this is not the bat from zanes.. It is like the bat like his but got it from a guy that had Harper bats.. Just was wondering if this bat was a legit bat because I've hard it's a fake model bat and it is a real game issued bat.. Just was wondering.. Glad someone cleared up the ink spot on bat that was one of my main issues with the bat possibly being fake.. So going off your knowledge you would think this is a 2012 game issued bat of Harper?

Also what value would you put on the bat if indeed it isn't a fake which I believe it wasn't.. $1000? Or more like the $2500 zanes has it at?

I think you may be right. The minor leaguers use pink bats for Mother's Day too. However would a minor league pink bat have no ribbon and mlb emblem or a ribbon and the milb emblem instead?
