San Diego Chargers game used helmet

Picked up this Hank Bauer Chargers' helmet recently. Any info or insight on it would be greatly appreciated....Hank played with the Bolts from 1977-82. Was hoping to see if anyone had clues on if it was a 1981 helmet and used in the historic Dolphins playoff game....as far as the padding or Chargers sweatband decal goes. Thanks

Great PAC 3 helmet! The helmet model and mask are appropriate as is the chargers bumper decal but that is not very conclusive. However, if you look inside the helmet (usually on the top just in front of the center air hole) there is a small circle stamped with numbers, one is the month the other the year. You may beed a flashlight and magnifying glass to clearly identify the numbers. In this case probably late 70's. Hope that helps narrow the time frame a little.

Great info! Upon investigating further, it has a 12/80 stamp. This basically narrows it down to 1981-82 seasons. Hopefully, Hank wore this one in '81, since
that was the epic game in Miami for the great playoff game.....thanks again.
