Sean Landeta retires
46 year old Sean Landeta retired today. He was the last remaining link to the USFL. I saw some pics of him with the single bar helmet
I personally love that facemask. Here are some of my favorites...

Re: Sean Landeta retires
i agree - riddell's single bar facemask is a classic. i'm surprised that riddell never offered these classic plastic facemasks, including their double bar facemasks, in molded colors - they were just painted (which didn't really hold up too well!).
as far as landeta is concerned, being a lifelong rams fan i will always think of him as a ram even tho he only spent 6 of his 21 years with the horns....

Re: Sean Landeta retires
Did they give SB rings before the game, like in basketball? Or was Landeta just rockin' his during the game? If so, then that's Rickyhendersonesque! Or is his finger bandaged, and it means nothing?
Really like the single-bar photos. There was a collector who posted photos of his Theismann single-bar. And a member owns the Maynard. Seems the single bar must be the rarest of the facemask era. I would like to see a thread with game used oddball facemasks.
Notice the Jurgenson, and the huge rip in his jersey. No undershirt, no flak-jacket, no nothing. We must protect this house!

I love this style Roy Jeffreson used in 1974, single bar with a U bar.

Don't forget Scott Player, aka: "punty mconebar" who played for the Cleveland Browns during the '07 NFL Season....he was signed to the roster after the regular punter was injured....if there's an injury to a punter in the '08 NFL Season, this vintage facemask may live on!!!!
