I like this ball because of the names of the teams written on it. D&M game used trophy baseball.
Dated July 1921 from "Alva Orphans" (Northwest Oklahoma League) vs. "Sweetwater Swatters" (West Texas League).

Nice ball Brett. Do you happen to know when it was manufactured?

i'm not positive but i'd guess late 20's/early 30's - that was the same era as the glove that i got with it. the lady also had the uniform of the player who used the mitt and ball but i had already spent my money (only 20 bucks for the ball which I think was a great deal).

$20 is a steal for any multicolor stitched ball...especially one in as good as condition as yours plus you got the original box. I just picked up a Pioneer League ball that was also made by Worth that I think is probably 1930's. Anyone know how late multicolor stitch balls were being used in professional baseball? I know that I can definitely say that the Three I League was using a black and red stitch Goldsmith ball as late as 1938.

Absolutely. Ed used to caddy for Tom when he was trying to catch on the PSA tour too.

I know this is in answer to a very old post, but I was wondering about this ball. My grandfather, Merle Smith, played for the Alva Giants one season (or possibly the Alva Orphans) between 1900 and 1904. I was wondering if there was any chance he signed that ball?
