One of the noted "Killer B's" of the powerful early to mid 2000's Houston Astros' clubs, Lance Berkman arrived in St. Louis in 2011 coming off an injury plagued season the prior year. Few knew just how big a role he would play in the Cardinals storybook 2011 campaign. Berkman would win Comeback Player of the Year, hitting 31 homeruns in the process, but it was his postseason exploits that would truly make him a Cardinal for life in the hearts of the fans. Berkman was a beast in the 2011 World Series hitting .423 and in the storied Game 6, with the Cardinals down to their final strike, he delivered an extra inning single to tie the game in the 10th inning and allow David Freese to hit the walkoff homerun heard round the world. Berkman's follow up campaign was much more injury riddled as he only played in 32 games, retiring after the following season, however, his 2011 season and subsequent postseason are forever etched in the memories of Cardinals fans.

This Louisville Slugger bat used by Berkman on Mother's day in 2012, has a born on date of 04/30/12, the designation of AA (Amish Ash) on the knob with a length of 34 inches and a weight of 32 ounces along with his number 12. It is widely known that Berkman uses maple bats for batting practice and ash bats in games. Game used Mother's Day bats are a very tough find as only a few are actually used by the players and some keep them to give to family. This particular bat used by Berkman has a good amount of game use for one game and has been photomatched to the ball mark seen in the Getty Image in the second post. A great, rare bat of the 6-Time All-Star.
