It's R.J. Reynolds' Pittsburgh helmet from - I'm pretty sure - '86 or '87, but I don't really understand how the "date wheel' works on this type of helmet...so I'm looking for some expert advice here.

The manufacturer is "American Baseball Cap" and the wheel looks like this (sorry, I'm unable to successfully photograph far enough inside the helmet to get a picture of it):

The wheel is divided into four quadrants. The upper left has a '6' with three small dots or indentations. The upper right has a '7' with three dots. The bottom left has a '9'. The bottom right has an '8' with one dot.

Above the wheel is a small oval with what appears to be a backwards '2'. A small oval beneath the wheel is blank.

Anyone know how to read this?
