What label do you put on your GU ball case and what info do you put on it?

I have a growing GU ball collection. They all look similar but it's what happened to them that makes the balls unique.

GU ball collectors, how do you display the balls, what info do you put on the labels, and what kind of labels do you use? Has anyone taken an MLB.tv screen grab from the play the ball was used in and display a small print with the ball?

    Thanks

I use 2 types of cases and labels. Historical and more valuable balls go into UV cubes and are displayed in the Steiner UV glass cases, and the others go into uv cubes and get a regular label. I put the career stats on the label and dates.

Images of the play look nice on placards IMHO. Different people have different taste but I do like for text about the ball to be inscribed by the player ON the item.

I get custom engraved placards done up for each hit ball. Only $2.25 per placard with free shipping and it looks a lot better than something printed and taped on a ball case.

I remember a guy we haven't seen on here for a while, Dave Davison (ballhawknet) at one time had a professional engrave pertinent information into the baseball itself (normally on a side panel). I'm not sure if he still has access to the engraver or how much it costs, but the ones he had marked in this manner looked really sharp.

Here are a couple photos of the engraved plates. One is Taylor Motter, the other is a homerun ball from an adult baseball league I play in

Thanks for the great ideas. Especially like engraved plates and placards for the more significant balls. I decided to see how clear Dymo address labels looked on a ball cube. Pretty good, I think, but I'm still gonna try engraved plates and placards for my favorites (including this great Freese WS ball, which was part of two post-season MLB records).

I think the clear label with black lettering looks great. Nice ball!

I don't collect very many baseballs...mostly if I have one autographed or its from something that I attended. I usually keep the labels short & to the point.

I agree with the earlier post about the clear labels...I may start using those in the future. I like the way they look.

    Sulross:

It definitely looks like you have a ball in an exceptionally elite class. IMHO, balls like that deserve special attention. I have examples to share with you (privately). If interested, please shoot me an e-mail at plettner at fuse dot not or post a contact here.
