Yes it's true. MLB has banned personalized bat knob decals. They can use generic team decals with player number though.

I am so glad that I got this Kolten Wong bat last year. I saw a photo of Kolten using a bat with the sticker during batting practice. I was hoping to see it during the regular season, but that won't happen now.

I called bat manufacture, and they told me that the equipment managers are the ones that order and install them.

Just my opinion, but it seems like MLB is kinda getting down in the weeds on this issue. I think they are pretty cool and I like the creativity that some are using.
Personally I would rather see MLB enforce uniform policy, mainly players that wear their hat off to one side.
