Game Used Pants..... Please Help

Dear Experts,

The following link is an ebay auction featuring Ozzie Smith "game used pants" from 1992. I would like some education. I was wondering if these were the real deal. Any thoughts?

I've never seen the darkened fabric for the players name before. I bet Dave Mediema can educate you on them though. Dave?

The darkened fabric looks like Black Sharpie. Perhaps the pants were recycled and given to another player (maybe a player in the minors). The problem with that is that it would make it very unlikely that Ozzie was the last to wear these pants and also discredit the seller's story.

Estaban's scenario seems to be the most likely scenario. The tagging before the application of the black sharpie blob looks to be proper for Ozzie pants from that era.
