How about the cut tail? Seems the team would have hemmed it.

dcgreg25 is right. Ismail sustained a career ending neck injury when he collided with a linebacker during practice on the 19th of August 2002. This means Ismail could have only played in 2 preseason games in 2002 before the injury. I cannot find any photos or stats for Ismail in these 2 games, but his name was mentioned in a game recap of the 2nd game (against Carolina) as being only one of a handfull of starters playing due to injurys.

With this in mind, I would imagine the jersey would show very little wear if it was actually worn by Ismail, what with it being preseason and Ismail being a receiver. So it will be even harder to tell if it is game used or issued. A different story if was used in one of more regular season games.

The cut off section is a bit strange. Perhaps for some reason Ismail only had a full length jersey issued to him for the Carolina game and he or the equipment manager cut off the mass of extra length at the last minute before he suited up?

Ismail always cut his jersey at the bottom he didnt like the extra length or it being tucked in I have both of rockets last ever worn jersey that he ever wore in the nfl recieved both from his family
