    Rod Rust, a longtime football coach at multiple levels who was the head coach of the Patriots in 1990, died on 10/23 at age 90.

    Lindon Crow, a defensive back who snatched 3 interception for the Giants in 1958 in the storied "greatest game ever played" against the Colts, died on 10/25 at age 85, after complications from a series of strokes.

    In the NFL for 10 seasons, he began his career with 3 years in Chicago with the Cardinals, followed by 3 with the Giants, and then 4 with the Rams. He was selected to 3 Pro Bowls.

    Benny Valenzuela, a native of Mexico who played in 10 games with the 1958 Cardinals, died on 10/24 at age 85. Benny both played 3B and pinch-hit in his brief MLB career.

    Hall of Famer Willie McCovey, for whom McCovey's Cove outside the right field stands at the Giants' current stadium was named, died today (10/31) after numerous concurrent health problems. He was 80.

    McCovey was the NL Rookie of the Year in 1959 and NL MVP in 1969. He played for 22 years in The Show, mostly with the Giants, with brief stops in San Diego and Oakland.

    Vince Manuwai, a lineman for the Jaguars from 2003-11, died after collapsing due to not yet-revealed causes. He was 38.

    Jose Mota, an infielder who had short stints with the 1991 Padres and 1995 Royals, died at age 53. Date of death was 11/6. He was a coach for AAA Gwinnett last season.

    Ron Johnson, a RB for 6 years with the New York Giants, died on 11/10 at age 71.

    Johnson was drafted by Cleveland as a 1st-rounder in 1969, and was traded to the Giants before the 1970 season He was the first Giants RB to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season, and the two years he eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark (1970 and 1972) were the only 2 season between 1964 and 1980 that the Giants finished with a winning record.

    Ron Negray, a RHP in the 1950s in the NL, died 11/8 at age 88.

    Negray pitched for the Phillies in 1955-56. This was sandwiched between two partial seasons with the Dodgers: 1952 (in Brooklyn) and 1958 (in Los Angeles).

    Ken Howell, a RHP for seven years in the NL. died 11/9, just a few weeks short of his 58th birthday.

    Howell pitched for 5 years with the Dodgers, with his final 2 years being with the Phillies.

    Nick Testa, a C/PR who appeared in one game for San Francisco (4/23/58) died November 16 at age 90.
