Jim Bouton, author of Ball Four and I'm Glad You Didn't Take It Personally and Yankees RHP from 1962-68, died on 7/10 at age 80.

    Bouton's two best seasons were with the Yankees in 1963 (21-7, 2.53) and 1964 (18-13, 3.02).

He was also an original Seattle Pilot, splitting 1969 with the Pilots and Astros, and remaining with Houston in 1970. After being retired from 1971-77, he made a brief comeback with Atlanta in 1978, going 1-3.

Walt Michaels, an 11-year LB in the NFL who was part of 5 Pro Bowl squads and 2 NFL Championship teams (Browns, both pre-Super Bowl), died on 7/10 at age 89.

After he retired from playing, Michaels served as first the defensive coach, and then the head coach for the New York Jets. He planned the defensive strategy that helped the Jets upset the Colts 16-7 in SB 3.
