Cubs.com has reported that former Cubs pitcher Milt Pappas died Tuesday at age 76.

Pappas pitched for the Orioles, Reds, Braves and Cubs from 1958-73. He was the player in the Orioles-Reds trade that brought Hall of Famer Frank Robinson to Baltimore.

Pappas also came one strike away from a perfect game against San Diego in a 1972 game at Wrigley Field, when his last pitch to PH Larry Stahl was called ball 4 by plate umpire Bruce Froemming.

Yeah...he died today at age 52 from a bout with brain cancer. He was, as Ken says, hot when he attended Syracuse. He was also drafted by the Nets in 1986, but only played 3 seasons in the NBA.
