With Javier Baez being names the starting SS for the NL in the All-Star Game, it marks the first time ever that a player has started at 2B and SS in consecutive years.

Only 2 other MLB players have done this over the course of their entire careers: Bobby Grich (AL) and Granny Hamner (NL).

This past Tuesday, in a Red Sox-Indians game in Cleveland, a 3rd inning strikeout by Boston's Chris Sale gave him the MLB record for the pitcher who required the fewest innings to achieve 2000 career Ks. The record was previously held by Pedro Martinez, who needed an additional 85 1/3 IP to set the former mark.

Aristedes Aquino, a rookie called up by the Reds on 8/1, clubbed his 10th career HR Friday night against the Cardinals, giving him the MLB record by being the fastest rookie ever to reach 10 career HRs, doing it in 16 games. The previous mark was in 17 games by Rhys Hoskins of the Phillies in 2017.

in the 5-4 Reds loss to Atlanta at home on 8/18, Reds reliever Kevin Gausman made some MLB history in the top of the 9th, throwing an immaculate inning (9 pitches, 9 strikes, 3 outs) for the second time in his career, joining a handful of MLB moundsmen who have done this twice in their careers. The only MLB pitcher who racked up 3 immaculate innings in his career was HoFer Sandy Koufax.

In the Mets/Braves night game on 8/23, Mets starting pitcher accomplished a first in MLB history. He both hit a home run AND struck out 13 or more batters, never before done by any MLB pitcher in their CAREERS, let alone doing so twice in one season (his first such game was on 4/4/19 against the Marlins.
