Player ID help

Can anyone ID the player sitting in between Maris and Dimaggio in this photo from a past Mears auction? The listing says Bill Skowron, which it is clearly not. From the notation on the back, its from Spring Training 1961. Players named Bill that would have been in camp with the Yankees that year would be Bill Short, Bill Shantz, and Bill Stafford and I'm not sure its any of those guys, but it could be. Thanks for any assistance.

I just cross checked with 61 roster and I believe it is Billy Gardner. Can't say 100%, but looking at that photo and doing a Google search, IMO, that is the "Bill" they are mentioning.

Thanks for the opinion. Though I'm certain its not Gardner. I had pretty much narrowed it down to Bill Short if the markings on the back were correct. But I was thinking they could be wrong and it wasn't a player named Bill at all, and possibly a ST invitee that didn't make the club. Anyway, I've gotten confirmation from a reliable source that it is Bill Short.
