RJ, that one is pretty bad. Don't understand how an auction house could put garbage like that up on their site.

    Heres one on ebay:

I have seen a few of these retail jerseys with the "Mattingly 92" tag. They are all signed with the same style Mattingly signature. Someone must have made these up for a signing, now people are trying to sell them as used/issued jerseys

    Jason,

Actually the one you linked isn't as bad as you think. I'm not as familiar with the Ft Lauderdale & Tampa Yankees jerseys from those days, but the one you linked does resemble jerseys used by the Oneonta Yankees in the late 70's/early 80's.

DonFan, Yankees retired #4 throughout the orginaztion in 1939

I would be shocled if they let one slide by in the 80's.

But hey as I learn everyday anything is possible

I didn't see the back at first glance. Comment was related to the front, but I do agree with the number issue.

Definitely not organization wide. I know the AAA Scranton Yankees issues 4 each year. Eric Bruntlett wore it this year. I can't seem to find a photo of any Ft. Launderdale Yankees road jerseys but that does seem familiar and possibly could be correct even with the 4. But I certainly don't know for sure. The Mattingly is a disaster though.

Kinda like Ernie Banks' #14 for the Cubs...retired at Wrigley Field but used in the minors and even the Arizona Fall League (Eric Hinske wore #14 in the AFL as a Cub 10 years ago.)
