2009 Phillies world series press pin--not!!
I'm not sure if this was discussed in these forums before but thought I would give a heads up to collectors of world series press pins. The world series teams have been making up press pins to distribute to the media. This year, the Phillies messed up. I was told by someone with the Phillies that the ball got dropped and instead of making up a press pin, they went to their retail store at the park (Majestic Store) and used off the shelf Aminco dualing logos: Phillies-Yankees pins to the media. People have been selling these on ebay as the real press pin for up to $60. You can buy the identical pin on ebay for under $10--a price similar to other world series pins available at the retail store.

Rick:
Interesting info...thanks. Press pins rarely come up on the Forum discussions. I know very little about them, other than the rarity of the phantom 1984 Cubs WS press pin. Supposedly, after their bitter Game 5 NLCS defeat in San Diego, the Cubs destroyed the majority of them.
