    Those 1977 South Side Hit Men made me set my mind that I would be better off rooting for The White Sox over The Cubs as an 8 year old child. I still root for the White Sox. That team featured many one year rent a players who Bill Veeck picked up in the final year of their contract.

    Richie Zisk and Oscar Gamble combined for 61 home runs, and the team finished 2nd in the American League with 192 home runs. In 1978 they lost these two players and only hit 106 home runs finishing 8th in the American League.
