NO Saints Collectors Show Off Your Stuff!
Hey guys,
I know there are random Saints items scattered throughout the Forums but it would be great if there was one specific place for everyone to share their GU jerseys, helmets, etc! I will post some of my collection soon and I look forward to seeing other posts showing the history of the Who Dats! :D
Thanks,
Bob

Re: NO Saints Collectors Show Off Your Stuff!
Great jerseys frankneck. The McAllister jersey is a coup but like you said, it was a shame that Duece tore his ACL wearing it.

So here are a few more of the older GU jerseys.
1994 Jim Everett - QB from 1994 to 1996.
1998 Number 72 - I found out who wore this after I got it, but have since forgotten... sorta cool though as they sewed the Puma arm patches over the Reebok arm patches. It has obvious signs of name plate removal.
2000 Jerry Fontenot (autographed) - Center from 1997 to 2003.
2003 Aaron Brooks - QB from 2000 to 2005.

I'm primarily a helmet guy. Started beefing up my NFL gamers and obtained with "blitzmaster's" help his NO #94 Charles Grant 2007 gamer. Displays nice wear and interesting was manufactured in March 2004 and has recertification stickers dated 05, 06 and 07.
Also obtained a game worn 2007 jersey. I've continued the trend of trying to locate a GU jersey to pair with a player's helmet. Enjoy!

I've been able to photo match to four games DE Grant's helmet. He wore the helmet in the Colts and Buc's games in Sept 2007…and in the Chiefs and Bengals' games in August 2007.

Great job photo matching the Grant helmet Tom! I am always scouring the stock agencies for photos too. I have a Joe Johnson game worn 2000 Saints helmet that I was able to aquire from blitzmaster a few years ago as well;)

Re: NO Saints Collectors Show Off Your Stuff!
When I was at the Superdome back in December of 2012, I asked the team store if they had any game used jerseys and they brought out a box for me to sift through. I found a Jermon Bushrod gamer w/team repairs from 2009 (super bowl season) that they sold me for $120. Love that organization. Such nice people.

Re: NO Saints Collectors Show Off Your Stuff!
I have this Jimmy Graham 2010 game worn jersey from 10/24/2010 against the browns.... his first catches in the dome. Looks to b eoriginally Darnell Dinkins jersey from 2009 and passed onto Graham.
Unfortunately due to some issues Im having to move it unless some other things happen. If I cant keep really hope it goes to a good home.
Heres the pics of it...

Here are a few more Saints items.
One of my latest game worn pickups:
1993 Renaldo Turnbull pants and 1994 jersey with NFL 75th Anniversary patch. Turnbull played LB from 1990 to 1996 and went to the Pro Bowl in 1993.
2005 Nate Schurman practice jersey - played FB on practice squad 2005 and preseason 2006. The Saints are great at recycling older jerseys as noted by the 2001 tag date and the older style jock tag!
2006 tagged Sedrick Ellis - played DT from 2008 to 2012, another recycled Saints gamer.
Enjoy,

OK Saints fans, let make some noise and post some stuff before the Wild Card game this weekend. Here are two nice game worn gems from the Super Bowl year!
Let's hope both Meachem and Moore have a great game.
2009 Robert Meachem - 1st round pick (#27) in 2007 out of TN. Played WR for Saints from 2007 to 2011 and then shipped of to San Diego for 2012. He is now back with the Saints. This jersey has a rarity for Saints gamers - a grass stain on L shoulder.

2009 Lance Moore - Undrafted free agent WR out of Toledo in 2005. The Cleveland Browns picked him up but he was released and picked up for Saints practice squad. During the 2006 season, while on Saints roster, he was allocated to NFL Europe's Berlin Thunder. In 2007, he gained an active Saints roster spot and has maintained it since.

Thanks for the nice story "pwnasaurus." I went to the Pro Bowl in 2012 and when I was standing in line at the airport in Honolulu, I turned around and Drew Brees was standing right behind me in the line. One of his little boys was running all over the place and Drew was having to chase him around and bring him back. Pretty funny to watch.

Time for a change in the jersey theme so here is some Special Team love. A 1986 Brian Hansen game worn helmet.
1986 Brain Hansen - The Saints ninth round #237 draft pick in 1984 from Univ of Sioux Falls. Saints Punter from 1984 to 1988 and went to Pro Bowl in 1984. He played in the NFL from 1984 to 1999 also playing for the Pats, Browns, Jets, and Skins. I was able to photomatch the helmet to a Topps 1986 Sticker Set #120!
Enjoy,
Bob

A little more love for the Saints Special Teams of the past.
Game used "K" ball from 2007 Week 17-2. The Saints played the Bears at Soldier Field and lost 33-25 as the last quarter was a disaster. The Saints had kicker Martin Gramatica and punter Steve Weatherford. Gramatica kicked 2 extra points and one field goal, while Weatherford punted 5 times.
The Bears Robbie Gould kicked 4 extra points and 1 field goal while Brad Maynard punted 6 times.

Re: NO Saints Collectors Show Off Your Stuff!
In honor of the Saints running game that showed up last night against the Eagles, here is a vintage RB helmet worn by Wayne Wilson up to 1986 but with a green dot NOP DW facemask instead. Wilson was drafted out of Shepherd College in WV by the Houston Oilers in 1979 in the 12th round pick #324. He went on to play RB for the Saints from 1979 to 1986 but was often the backup to Earl Campbell. He was the teams all-purpose yardage leader in 1982 and 1983 and set the team record for rushing with 160 yards on 34 carries on Oct 2, 1983. After leaving the Saints, he had a short stint with the Vikings before retiring in 1987 while a Redskin.
It appears that during the 1987 NFL strike replacement games, this helmet with it's current facemask, may have been worn by Vincent Alexander. He was an undrafted RB out of University of Southern Mississippi. From photo research, it seems like the Saints pretty much did away with the NOP DW facemasks for the running backs in 1987 in favor of the style of mask on the helmet now. Vincent only played one game for the Saints but reserves his place in history as noted in this link:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...in-nfl-history
The Strike team had several nicknames including the New Orleans Saint Elsewheres but played well and had a 2 - 1 record when the strike ended. The Saints finished with the second best record in the NFL at 12 -3, thanks in part to the replacement players that have all but been forgotten. The 49ers won the NFC West at 13-2.
I find the whole episode of the 1987 replacement players in NFL history to be an amazing part of the game and am very glad to have stumbled upon this helmet. Heck, without the Strike, Sean Payton would not have been QB for the Bears and may never have ended up coaching the Saints! How about that for a game changer.
Enjoy,

OK, you all are probably getting tired of my posts but here are two Presentation Game Balls issued to DE/DT Joe Johnson. In 1994, the Saints used their first round draft pick (#13) for the defensive player out of Louisville and he played with the team until 2001. The Packers picked him up as a free agent in 2002 and he retired in Green Bay in 2003.
As a Saint, he went to the Pro Bowl in 1998 and again in 2000. He was the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award, AP Comeback Player of the Year Award, and was named as an All Pro selection in 2000.
Enjoy,

Re: NO Saints Collectors Show Off Your Stuff!
Thanks for the nice words Dave Miedema.
In preparation for the Divisional Playoff Game, that few think the Saints can win, I present a "Bring the Wood" team bat issued during the 2009 season for the game against the New York Jets.
Both teams were 3 - 0 entering the game and Mark Sanchez was the highly touted rookie QB out of USC starting for the Jets. Mark had won 3 Rookie of the Week awards coming into the game, but his luck would not last as the Saints brought some major defensive wood.
At the start of the 2nd quarter, Sanchez threw a 99 yard pick six to Darren Sharper and just 5 minutes later, he was strip sacked in the end zone by Remi Ayodele for another defensive touchdown. By the end of the day, Mark had thrown 3 interceptions and the Jets had lost a fumble. The Saints sacked Sanchez 4 times and were well on their way to their first ever Super Bowl win!!!
Drew Brees did not throw any touchdowns but the Saints running attack accounted for 153 yards and the Saints won the game 24-10. I still remember watching this game and all I can say is that the Saints need to bring this same ferocity to Seattle tomorrow.
Enjoy,
Bob

Re: NO Saints Collectors Show Off Your Stuff!
Two new additions to the collection!
1998 Kyle Turley Rookie Jersey - Drafted by the Saints 1st round pick #7 in 1998 out of San Diego State. He played OT from 1998 to 2002 with the Black and Gold, but left the Saints and went to the Rams for 2003/4. He sat out 2005 due to a back injury but did return to the NFL with the Chiefs in 2006 and 2007. He missed only 2 games as a starter during his playing years and was selected All Pro in 2000 and 2003. Turley is infamous for the Jets helmet throwing incident in 2001 while protecting QB Aaron Brooks -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WyLJ27TdZs.
1998 Sammy Knight Jersey - Undrafted out of USC by the Saints in 1997 where he played Safety until 2002. He was named All Pro and went to the Pro Bowl in 2001. After leaving the Saints, he went on to play for the Dolphins, Chiefs, and Jaguars, before retiring as a Giant in 2008. Sammy was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame in 2011 and I was lucky enough to be able to meet him during his Induction Ceremony!
Enjoy,
Bob

I agree NOLAsailor. This color and style definitely was a classic combination. It would be nice if the team came out with an alternate design concept for a while. So you are trying to put together your own jersey? Please post if you get them done!

i'm trying. i've got pretty much everything i need ordered and on it's way, but i'm deploying on the 31st so i'm not really going to get to enjoy it for awhile lol. i was hoping to get some real detailed instructions from saintsfan but it looks like he's a difficult guy to get a hold of on any site he's registered to! i hope my jersey comes out ok, but i'll be sure to post pics whenever i get it done.
does anyone know how common the zigzag stitch is as far as asking a seamstress to have that done and look correct?

Re: NO Saints Collectors Show Off Your Stuff!
Here are two defensive stars for the Saints, past and present, who both helped New Orleans win their first Superbowl!
Mike McKenzie - Drafted out of Memphis by the Packers in 1999 in round 3, pick #87. He played CB for Green Bay before being traded to the Saints for the last 10 games of the 2004 season. He had 2 major knee injuries during his time with the Saints and actually was waived prior to the last regular season game in 2009 due to a roster move to bring backup QB Chase Daniel to the active roster. He did not play in the playoffs or Superbowl for the Saints, but was awarded a Championship Ring for his contributions to the organization during the previous 5 years.
Roman Harper - Strong Safety drafted out of Alabama by the Saints in 2006, round 2, pick #43. Roman suffered a season ending knee injury during his rookie season and and was awarded Ed Block Courage Award in 2007. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2009 and 2010 and continues to be an integral part of the revamped Saints defense. He is still recording impressive tackle numbers and his iconic greying hair shows his experience.
Enjoy,
Bob Gengler

Hey AK Saints. My brother caught a field goal attempt at the Saints-Bears game at Tiger stadium in 2007 and mistakenly gave the ball back. He would kill to get a ball from that game. The video of him is on youtube at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLmDjbdxoHk
would you consider parting with the ball? Tom

That is a great video Tom! I would be kicking myself too if I gave a ball back. The ball that I posted was actually from their game at Soldier field at the end of the year, so it is not a ball from the Tiger Stadium game. It is my only game used ball otherwise I would consider selling it. If I come across another one, I will let you know.

Re: NO Saints Collectors Show Off Your Stuff!
I once saw the Saints selling the gold alternate jersey of James Fenderson for $300. For some reason I didn't buy it. Afterwards the hurricane hit New Orleans and the jersey is probably lost. I kick myself for not buying it. A consolation is I did manage to pickup his practice jersey which is the only Saints item I own.

Re: NO Saints Collectors Show Off Your Stuff!
Hey guys, wanted to post a little about these Drew Brees game worn cleats I just won off ebay last week. I have been looking for a pair of Brees cleats for a couple years and finally found a pair for sale. As a Saints fan, very pleased to have found these for sale, and finally have a pair in my Saints collection.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/201147138415...9#ht_26wt_1098
Because i know the ebay link will die at some point I will also post some photos of the cleats...
And I will add a little research I have done on them so far, I dont know if all the extra info is best to put in this thread or a different one, dedicated to photomatching, etc, but i guess I'll put it all down on this thread to keep it all in the same place...

Re: NO Saints Collectors Show Off Your Stuff!
More on the Brees Cleats i just posted...
First I tried to get as much info from the Seller, he stated :
"purchased the cleats on Monday, June 16, 2014 at a charity golf outing called the Kovan Classic"
"all he knew was that a former Detroit Lion donated them"
"I sent them to PSA/DNA for verification"
Which was good info, but didnt get me any closer to figuring out what game they were worn in.
So if you look at the auction listing, you'll see a photo of the Cleats Sample tags that say the FA12, or 2012 Football Season...
Trying to figure out what game they are from, first I figured out how many games Brees wore this style cleats in 2012..7 games + Preseason games...
Then because of the Dirt/Grass, stuck in the bottom of the cleats tried to eliminate the games played on Artificial Turf...
So eliminating Artificial Turf Fields becuase of the Dirt on the cleats..Down to 3 games, vs Raiders, Bucs and Packers during 2012...
Then, I wondered if i could figure out what type of grass was stuck under the cleats, and if it was say Bermuda grass, etc be able to eliminate another game before looking for photomatches...
So then I contacted a Turf expert, Jerad at GrowingInnovations.com...
I asked if I sent a sample to someone could they help me identify the type of grass or field, and I provided the ebay listing and explained what I was trying to do.
Maybe 10 minutes later, he emails a reply and says, Do you see those bright green pieces sticking out of one of the cleats?
"looks like there is a piece of green synthetic from a Desso grassmaster field. Grass won't be green still like that still as it will be decaying." -Jerad
I am unfamiliar with Desso Grassmaster, but its Wikipedia identifies it as a part Synthetic, and part natural type of turf where both are there.
AND that it is used at three NFL Stadiums, Broncos, Eagles, and Packers..
Packers being the only time Brees wore these cleats in 2012.
So with this unique combination of Synthetic and natural turf stuck to the Bottom of one of these Brees cleats (you can zoom in and see the green synthetic piece better on the ebay listing) the game has been narrowed down to one game.
Then i went to google images and tried to find the best photos from that game as possible to compare..
First image i tried to compare the creases of the heels of the cleats,
then looked for a comparison to the soiling of the outer sides of both cleats,
and the front.
I dont think these are 100% photomatches or anything...
But if this may be the only game they could have been worn in due to the grass, I think the images compare favorably and dont show anything to rule out that these are the same cleats....
Saints lost the game, But Brees had 3 Touchdowns and Tied Unitas Consecutive Touchdown Record that game.

Great cleat pick up and way to sleuth;) Congrats.
