Re: ASI / Historic Auctions / Expert Sports Authentication
Then how does this thread make any sense? (specifically Chris Cavalier's post of 12-1)
http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_f...alier+historic
Please keep in mind when reading it that timmybaseball05 and searsious- both big fans of asi and historic were posted from the same computer and were posted 9 minutes apart. They have also each only posted once. Geniuses I tell you.
-
Re: ASI / Historic Auctions / Expert Sports Authentication
hi eric,
in the thread you posted, chris cavalier forwarded the following from someone at asi:
"AS FOR HISTORIC AUCTIONS, A COMPLETELY SEPARATE ENTITY. HISTORIC AUCTIONS IS RUN BY JAMES BROWN"
to wit:
please note the article of organization for "Historic Auctions LLC"
http://www.sunbiz.org/COR/2005/1024/40858944.tif
the street address of the business, mailing address of the business, and
address of the registered agent is:
115 Cordova Blvd NE
St.Petersburg FL 33704
the registered agent is "bradley wells"
note the 2006 annual report for historic auctions:
http://www.sunbiz.org/COR/2006/0430/70242167.tif
the current principal place of business, current mailing address is:
115 Cordova Blvd NE
St.Petersburg FL 33704
additionally, there are 2 managing members; bradley wells and james brown. bradley wells' address is shown as:
115 Cordova Blvd NE
St.Petersburg FL 33704
the 2006 annual report for "Authentic Sports Incorporated":
http://www.sunbiz.org/COR/2006/0430/90242559.tif
it shows the current principal place of business, current mailing address, and address of current registered agent:
115 Cordova Blvd NE
St.Petersburg FL 33704
it lists the registered agent as "bradley wells".
the article of organization for "Expert Sports Authentication":
http://www.sunbiz.org/COR/2006/0721/20791252.tif
it shows the registered agent as "bradley wells".
the conclusions and implications of asi/historic auctions/expert sports authentication are obvious. "bid accordingly"

However, earlier this year, he sold of his entire interest in the company and does not currently own any stake in the company." I asked Mr. Brown to reconcile that statement with the email Brad Wells sent on November 29, 2005 (which I still have) claiming he had no affiliation with Historic Auctions whatsoever other than being involved with the authentication of the baseball items in the auction.

Re: ASI / Historic Auctions / Expert Sports Authentication
a history of asi / historic / bernie gernay / brad wells / james brown / expert sports authentication:
aug 2005 - scott/sandman87 sells a david wright norfolk tides gamer via ebay to "gulfbaytradingcompany" in seminole, florida. james brown, a partner in historic auctions, is in seminole, florida. scott's david wright jersey winds up in the first historic auctions auction.
oct 21, 2005 - brad wells, president of asi, files paperwork to create a LLC under the name "historic auctions". the sole registered agent is brad wells. all addresses of the business are 115 cordova (brad wells' address). historic auctions llc is to be effective as of 10/21/2005.
oct 2005 - historic auctions runs an ad in scd which is attributed to "authentic sports inc" in the advertiser index.
nov 19, 2005 - bernie gernay posts on GUF announcing the launch of historic auctions. most items in their auction seem to come with an asi coa. in addition to authenticating for the auction house he created, brad wells later mentions he has also consigned some items.
nov 29, 2005 - brad wells states, in regards to asi's affiliation with historic auctions, "ASI did participate with the authentication of the game used baseball ... as well as consigned a few items. that is the only affiliation whatsoever". apparently brad forgot to mention that he created historic auctions a month earlier.
dec 2005 - psi/bernie gernay auctions off a john elway jersey and a joe montana jersey on ebay using photos from a john elway jersey and joe montana jersey auction from historic's auction. apparently, when contacted, historic says bernie, for some reason, is using photos of their jerseys to sell his jerseys on ebay.
dec 2005 - bernie gernay, representing global, authenticates football jerseys in historic auctions auction. he also consigns his own football jerseys to historic. he authenticates a john elway jersey that he consigned. neither global nor historic apparently has any issue with bernie authenticating his own consignments.
dec 2005 - bernie chooses to remove a shortsleeved manning jersey from his psi ebay auction because of serious doubts that manning wore short sleeves. in his words, he feels "compelled to remove the listing from eBay".
may 2006 - representing global, bernie "authenticates" a shortsleeved manning for historic auctions. after being notified of the shortsleeve issue, historic removes the jersey. apparently bernie forgot that he removed his own manning from ebay for the exact same reason only months earlier.
may 2006 - bernie/PSI's clinton portis jersey shows up on historic auctions. the auction says the portis jersey was authenticated by bernie gernay.
may 2006 - eric asks james brown for a list of asi items authenticated by brad wells in the current historic auction. james says he's unable to provide the list.
may 2006 - global withdraws from authenticating for historic's may 2006 auction. steve rocchi states it's because they discovered that several items in the auction were consigned by brad wells. brad wells, representing global at the time, was again authenticating items in historic auctions. apparently global is not keen on brad authenticating his own items.
july 2006 - brad wells stops authenticating for global and creates his own firm: "expert sports authentication". their first job? authenticating the upcoming historic auction. bernie gernay stops authenticating for global and joins brad wells' firm to authenticate for historic. perhaps expert sports authentication will look more favorably upon wells and gernay authenticating their own consigments than global did? perhaps historic will have a more successful relationship with expert sports authentication than they did with global?
brad, you're a genius. this beats the debacle that was "a-rod authenticated". you decided to open your own auction house, fill it with your own items, and then use your own authentication firm! great work tiger! what a trio; brad, james, and bernie.
i wonder if historic auctions will ever use anyone other than "expert sports authentication"?
rudy.

There's more to the timeline, no?
How about Historic's auction ending without them offering the information that the items will not coming with global certs.
And what about Joel's dinner with James Brown who said he would come on here and clear things up. he never did

Yeah, Rudy, and where on the timeline does it show that Jason/Suave1477 warned us about this but we were too stupid to listen?? I don't see that anywhere! Come on, Rudy, you're really slipping here.

Re: ASI / Historic Auctions / Expert Sports Authentication
Eric,
I'll try to makle it easier to understand by showing the ip address info:http://www.robtex.com/ip/82.165.235.192.html
There are 4 aliases associated with this ip:
1.Historic Auctions
2.Authentic Sports Inc
3.ibjhb.com
4.webstroke.com
Onlinehome-server.com is the web hosting company itself.
Until a few hours ago, the WHOIS registration info for sites 3 and 4 listed James Brown of Seminole FL as the owner of each. However, this info has now been hidden. Someone is trying to hide their tracks.
What this means is that the person who is renting the space on this server has subdivided the space to host the 4 sites listed above.
Howard and Joel, you are listed in turtlegrrl18's feedback. Can you confirm the email listed above??

Are you doubting the original post mentioning this user is making up facts, names and email addresses? I cannot confirm anything, but they seem to have a lot of information.

Joel,
I understand your policy about transaction privacy - I'm not questioning that.
But I am confused by the second thing that you wrote. Are you talking about forum posters Pat and Kyle? Or are you talking about James Brown, Brad Wells, etc.? If you are questioning Pat and Kyle, I would strongly beg to differ. Clearly, these guys have done their homework and have provided GUF with very important information.
You know that I'm not trying to start an argument (and I believe that we may be on the same page) - I'm just asking for some clarification.
Thanks,
Reid

Reid, my comment was to Pat who wants confirmation of the first post of this new information who wants me or Howard to provide on a public forum the email address for an eBay customer of ours. I was making the point that the original post (I assume by Kyle) was pretty thorough and I wanted to know why he doubted the information that he would need confirmation from Howard or myself as I assume they got their facts straight if they presented that post and it was not removed from the forum.

goodness, she seems fond of game issued, superstar jerseys. apparently the lack of steiner certs on her yankee "game issues" don't bother her.
incidentally, i'm curious why none of historic's matsui, jeter, and arod jerseys (of which they usually seem to have many) never have any steiner certs.
joel, i'm curious when you went to dinner with the upstanding james brown, did james seem to have an odd, unrelenting fascination with your yankee procuts?

Rudy, my dinner with James Brown I discussed his issues with the hobby at that time. I tried to advise him how to approach Game Used Universe's Forum, and he made me promises and never kept them.
I have not had a game issued Yankee jersey for sale in about 9-12 months. Anything else you wish to ask about my personal business?

As a new member to the forum, I wonder, do you people have nothing better to do with your time? Seriously. You guys need to get a life. As long as you are receiving real and great product, who cares who owns the freaking company. I have done business with almost every auction house in the business, and I have dealt with Historic Auctions as well. I wish I had all this time in my life to research what email people do things from, their middle names, etc. This is getting ridiculous. Hope you people can find something better to talk about than this stuff one day, like if things are real and fake, isnt this what this forum is for anyways???

Larry-
First, welcome to the forum. I fell odd welcoming you when your first post is basically for everyone to get a life, but I'll take the high road.
Second, your initial post makes no sense.
If your interest is truly to know if items are real and fake, then you should see the value in the above information.
All of the information is valuable in helping the consumer make an informed decision on whether to buy or not to buy from Historic Auctions.
Unfortunately since Mr. Brown and his company have not been good about sharing information about conflicts of interest, people around here have had to do it on their own.
Feel free to enjoy the site. Not sure your approach to meeting fellow forum members is one I would have chosen, but you can make your own decisions.
As an aside in my tenure as moderator I have seen the same pattern time and time again. Every time someone is caught with their hand in the cookie jar, a "new forum member" comes on here and tells everyone to get a life. You're going to have to do better than that.
Good luck,
Eric

I have never dealt with the parties involved in this discussion in any way, shape, or form. Probobly never will. I do find this fascinating from an ethics standpoint. In my line of work if I had the ethics and conflicts of interest that appear to be going on here I would already be in prison.

goodness, she seems fond of game issued, superstar jerseys. apparently the lack of steiner certs on her yankee "game issues" don't bother her.
incidentally, i'm curious why none of historic's matsui, jeter, and arod jerseys (of which they usually seem to have many) never have any steiner certs.
joel, i'm curious when you went to dinner with the upstanding james brown, did james seem to have an odd, unrelenting fascination with your yankee procuts?
rudy.
I was curious to see the Yankees Clemens 2003 from that list above as we have one direct from Steiner, but the pictures have been removed from the eBay listing. The seller was MASAUCTION. How in the world can they get so many perfectly tagged "unused" jerseys? These jerseys are selling for big dollars too at $795 for that Clemens.
