New manager and players highlight annual PirateFest, January 27-29

'The Pittsburgh Pirates will host PirateFest 2006 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, January 27 - 29.'

The Pittsburgh Pirates will host PirateFest 2006 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, January 27 - 29. Now in its 16th year, PirateFest is a giant indoor baseball carnival for the entire family, featuring live events, free autograph sessions, prizes, games, youth baseball clinics, the Pirate Parrot and much more.
"With our new manager Jim Tracy, player acquisitions such as Sean Casey, Joe Randa and Jeromy Burnitz, the MLB All-Star Game here this summer and bigger and better promotions every night, we are anticipating a very exciting 2006 baseball season," said Tim Schuldt, Vice President Marketing, Sales & Broadcasting. "We will entertain this year. We're looking forward to seeing a lot of fans and their families at PirateFest and at PNC Park."
This year's event will feature the following:
Free autograph sessions with members of the 2006 Pirates, including Jason Bay, Jack Wilson, Sean Casey, Mike Gonzalez, Freddy Sanchez, Brad Eldred, Zach Duke, Ryan Vogelsong, Kip Wells and Chris Duffy.
A 60' replica baseball field to host Youth Baseball Clinics with pitching coach Jim Colborn and manager Jim Tracy. Q&A Sessions with the players as well as "Ask Pirates Management" with Kevin McClatchy, Dave Littlefield and Jim Tracy.
The chance to join your favorite players in a version of Pirates "Win, Lose or Draw", "Pirates All-Star Trivia" contests, "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" Karaoke, Pierogy Eating Contests and cooking segments with the Pirates and Levy Restaurants.
Fall into a baseball trance with Nick The Hypnotist, stop by to meet Chris and the Pirate Puppet and get a specialty piece of balloon art from Mike the Balloon Guy. Giant Eagle Kids Fun Zone featuring many activities for children, along with nutritional information.
Pirates "Lost Treasures" area to include game-used jerseys, bats, baseballs and more with proceeds to benefit Pirates Charities Foundation.
New Areas Include a PirateFest Pop-Up Area, Video Batting Cages and Teen Arcade Area. Information on 2006 Pirates Season Ticket Packages and the 2006 MLB All-Star Game.
Hours for PirateFest 2006 are 5:00 - 10:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27; Noon - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28; Noon - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 29. Tickets are priced at $10.00 for adults and $6.00 for kids 12 and under (children under 30" in height are admitted for free).
