I'm no expert on Marlins jerseys but I do believe that they have been using strip tags for the last few years. I'm not 100% sure though.

Here's a picture of one (but from a Braves jersey). They are little white tags which are sewn below the manufactuer tag (and for a few teams, it's sewn into the neck). They would normally have the set number, uniform number, and 2-year digit (not always in that order for certain teams, but that's the way it is with my '99 Braves home jersey pictured below).

1993-2004 Russell jerseys had no year tags, just the appropriate size and polyester tagging

2005-2007 Majestic jerseys have embroidered strip tags ( Player number, Jersey size, year, inventory code)
