View Full Version : Jorge Posada and Paul Oneil Bat Game Use.

In case anyone missed last nights Yankees game don't worry you didn't miss much.
But here is what you did miss which I learned something new and found interesting.

They were showing Jorge Posada in the dugout taking one of his bats and rubbing it back and forth hard on the barrell against a round handrail.
(similar to bone rubbing)

Paul Oneil was one of the comentators last night and the camera was focusing in the dug out, Paul Oneil and Joe Girardi were explaining to Michael Kay what Posada was doing. Paul Oneil then mentioned when he played from time to time he would do that too as from hitting the bat against his spikes would cause the bat to splinter so to file down the splinters he would rub it against the hand rail too.

Joe Girardi comment was - I never understood why players cared so much for there bats trying to make them perfect and then they ended up breaking as soon as you got them just they way you wanted them lol lol:D
