Great topic. Here is my favorite. I am 90% sure the player on the top is Little Poison Waner. I have never seen another like it. I found it four years ago at an antique show.

I like this ball because of the names of the teams written on it. D&M game used trophy baseball.
Dated July 1921 from "Alva Orphans" (Northwest Oklahoma League) vs. "Sweetwater Swatters" (West Texas League).

Nice ball Brett. Do you happen to know when it was manufactured?

i'm not positive but i'd guess late 20's/early 30's - that was the same era as the glove that i got with it. the lady also had the uniform of the player who used the mitt and ball but i had already spent my money (only 20 bucks for the ball which I think was a great deal).

$20 is a steal for any multicolor stitched ball...especially one in as good as condition as yours plus you got the original box. I just picked up a Pioneer League ball that was also made by Worth that I think is probably 1930's. Anyone know how late multicolor stitch balls were being used in professional baseball? I know that I can definitely say that the Three I League was using a black and red stitch Goldsmith ball as late as 1938.

THis one is not a vintage ball but the inscription is great. Ed Hearn sent me this ball after seeing that I had more of his game used jerseys and bats in my collection than he had save in his career.

Ed Hearn's brother Tom used to be my neighbor. He works for the Nebraska PGA. Super nice guy. He told me a lot of great stories about the 1986 Mets. Did you know that Ed Hearn played on a championship team at every level of baseball he played?

Absolutely. Ed used to caddy for Tom when he was trying to catch on the PSA tour too.

I got the ball from Sports Immortals in Boca. The photos on it are cut from some sort of actual photo, not a newspaper or magazine. I'll try to post pictures of the sides tomorrow.

1934 was the year all red stitching began in both leagues. Companies could obviously continue to make them, but they weren't used in the bigs after 1933.

I'm sure it is a cool ball, but late 1800s or early 1900s? It sure looks never than that. Any insight, experts?

Most likely a 1950-1960's child's toy baseball that you could get at any dime store.

Hilarious. Thanks for the laugh Rob M. Hard to believe someone could think that ball was that old. Like Dan said, a '60s, or even more recent, dime store toy.

Been wanting to put this beauty on for awhile! Hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do..Mint in the box Honus Wagner Co. ball late-'20s, early '30s. Found at local estate sale years back. Also came w/original box w/lid that held a dozen balls. His name is stamped several times on the box, small pic of him on ball. One of my favorites. Jay

I noticed in a post that you had a 1939 cedar rapids autographed baseball. I believe mmy grandfather was on that team and I was wondering if you had a list of names.

Thanks for your time

I know this is in answer to a very old post, but I was wondering about this ball. My grandfather, Merle Smith, played for the Alva Giants one season (or possibly the Alva Orphans) between 1900 and 1904. I was wondering if there was any chance he signed that ball?

This is one of my most recent finds. Signed by Dizzy Dean, and 15 others, inscribed World Series 1938 ... all Chicago Cubs. Also has Tony Lezzeri.

The last hit ball I personally secured was on 9/9/14, at Comiskey Park (aka US Cellular Field) in a 11-2 Oakland rout of the White Sox. Alberto Callaspo of Oakland ripped a shot off a John Danks pitch that bounced once in left field and hopped over the wall into the White Sox bullpen, where one of the relief pitchers gave it to me. It was my first-ever MLB ground-rule double and my second pro double (the first was at a game at Kane County in 1992 when Alex Ochoa hit a line shot that rolled under the fence and out of the park in left-center field). I wish I could post a photo of both, but I have no equipment to do so.:(

I just purchased this from an antique dealer in Montgomery, AL. No idea as to the date that can be attributed to it...it reads "Giants 7 Crakers (sic) 5". This would make it from the early 50's I would suspect. I thought it was a neat find.
