This jersey just sold for $806 in Bricol.

Let's put it this way, if it came from NFL Auctions, it would have gone for 4-5k with the assurance that it's the real thing.

Up to you to take the risk, but especially with current NFL gamers, you get what you pay for.

4-5 grand for a Qb on a non-playoff team with ONE year of starting under his belt??????

C'mon, that's nuts.

Have you not seen the prices on NFL Auctions?

If it came from NFL Auctions, it could get 4-5K for a rookie jersey of one of the young stars in the game with provenance from the NFL, not a vague lou lampson LOA.

A punter's jersey went for almost $1500

A backup running back's jersey went for $2580

If you boys have that much cheddar to waste on low demand players like that, then you must be .com millionaires. I could buy an equipment manager for less. I suspect that's why there's so much market outside of NFL direct auctions, because items from thus far unproven players can't sustain that value unless they go HOF.

I'm not saying those are proper prices, it just indicates that the amount of garbage out there puts the price of the stuff with actual provenance higher.

Otherwise you ended up paying a lot less for something that isn't likely to be the real thing. Sure you got a good price, but for what?

Isn't that the purpose of this board? Any bozo with jack can buy direct, right? It's having the expertise to recognize the real deal at a more reasonable price that makes this a hobby rather than a storefront.

I'm telling you, there is so much bad current NFL stuff in the market today that it has ruined collecting.

How many big name nfl stars jerseys with missing patches, misspelled nameplates and wrong customizations will you have to see before you realize we're surrounded by garbage being manufactured by people looking to make the quick buck.

That's what drives up the prices on the stuff which has a higher percentage of being real.

I guess if you feel comfortable spending your money on these pieces, it's your choice. You could so what they're doing and make it yourself for a lot less...

I'm sure you have pieces you didn't buy directly from NFL Auctions at their inflated prices, Eric. True?

Sure. I have lots of things that didn't come directly from the league. I wouldn't buy current star NFL jerseys without provenance- that's just my opinion based on how much garbage is out there.

I have lots of minor players and even semi stars which didn't come from the league.

Unless I completely trust the source or am able to photomatch a current star's jersey (we're talking about nfl here) I won't buy a current star.

Again, that's my philosophy. Bargain hunters can buy into whatever they like.
