Steve Misturini of AuthenticSports is selling a combination game used jersey and pants of Mariano Rivera.

Recently, under the name gingerine98 (same mailing address as AuthenticSports), he bought Mariano Rivera pants as game issued with a Steiner letter from user http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/s.gifjfactory_sports (http://myworld.ebay.com/jfactory_sports/) for $54.

Please note the comparison of stitching.

Also note there is now use on the bottom of the Rivera pants.

Eric-
Even more troubling is jersey's the last digit on the year tag being worn away. This is the first time I've seen this type of excessive year tag wear on a relief pitchers shirt.

howard,

what about the nature of the fading though? a single digit completely wore away while 3 others remained. the fading isn't gradual as would normally occur via extensive washing. the fourth digit has completely faded, yet the "extra length" text is still bold?

secondly, the fading itself isn't even uniform. it's splotchy. some parts of the "2" are bold, some are completely faded. it's atypical fading to say the least. i have seen this sort of effect before though; when a bleaching agent is used. anything touched by the bleach drops almost completely fades while anything untouched by the bleach remains bold.

thirdly, the fourth digit has completely worn away from such "extensive washing" and the "+2" is significantly faded as well, yet the manufacturer's tag itself shows no puckering at all? as well, the year tag has apparently also undergone such extensive washing that the digits have significantly faded yet the tag itself shows no wear/puckering? the year tag doesn't so much as have a single wrinkle. the flag tags are faded, but they haven't curled? under genuine wash wear, curling occurs before fading. the single broken thread is a nice touch though.

it reminds me of the tomlinson that misturini doctored awhile ago. hard dirt/grass hits on the number but not a single thread broke. tomlinson was purportedly hitting the ground and other players hard, yet none of those magical threads broke. just like this rivera. the tags are faded yet there's no curling or puckering or wrinkling. they show 1 aspect of extensive wash wear while somehow completely avoiding the 2 or 3 others that also come with it. it's like having a bat full of ball marks and pine tar and not a single rack mark. almost impossible isn't it?

just wanted to show the contrast between legit game-worn tags of steiner jerseys and the misturini rivera tag.

again, my issues being:
- year tag shows significant fading, yet no wrinkling whatsoever
- fading isn't uniform at all
- tags show fading, yet manufacturer's tag shows no puckering whatsoever.

when extensive wash wear occurs, there are several effects. misturini's jersey shows 1 effect - fading. (albeit atypical fading). note that the steiner gamers below show ink fading but they ALSO show noticeable tag wrinkling/puckering, and manufacturer's tag puckering.

If its a boomer, is it for sale?

It appears the folks at Steiner have contacted ebay, causing the Mariano Rivera "game used" jersey and pants to be taken down.

Bob Malandro said of the situation "Steiner is committed to blocking his (Steve Misturini of AuthenticSports) sale of misrepresented items, and forum members can feel free to contact us to report any abuses."

I have been told by a various sources that Misturini is still selling the Mariano jersey/uniform which was pulled by ebay at Steiner's request.

He is telling people that they're now selling the uniform privately and that it was only pulled by ebay because they did not mention in the listing that the piece came from steiner.

Guess it had nothing to do with buying it as issued and selling it as used. Could have fooled me. Last time I checked that was called fraud.

I wonder if Steiner will follow up with Misturini now that he is still trying to rip people off by misrepresenting Yankees-Steiner products.
