currently, ASI has a 2005 Robinson Cano jersey with Katrina Patch: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180115272357

in this thread: http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=762 (http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=762)
it was established that this jersey was previously offered in Historic Auctions.

The Lampson LOA on the ASI Cano in the current Ebay auction is dated December 20, 2005 and is identical, word for word, to the Lampson LOA on the 2005 Cano jersey currently offered by Historic Auctions. See here for that LOA: http://www.historicauctions.com/files/2A07C7BF-1111-B1F9-F3AD99B0736E96C8/37576.pdf

The Historic Cano does not have a Katrina Patch.

Rudy-
Let's not forget that that Lampson also enjoys using the same tired pharse on many of his Yankees jerseys, "THE JERSEY WAS SOURCED THROUGH YANKEES SUPPORT STAFF PERSONNEL" Where in the world is Lampson obtaining this information from? Are we to actually believe that the owners of all of the Yankees shirts Lampson has "authenticated" have all told him the same informaiton about their source?

Could the conversation possibly go something like this....
LAMPSON "Great Yankees Cano jersey"
CONSIGNOR "You like it Lou???"
LAMPSON "Ya, but no Steiner LOA?"
CONSIGNOR "Don't worry. "THE JERSEY WAS SOURCED THROUGH YANKEES SUPPORT STAFF PERSONNEL"
LAMPSON "Hard to believe how many recent era shirts, especially Jeter's and A-Rod's, the Yankees Support Staff Personnel get their hands on"

I'm sure Steiner and the Yankees would enjoy having an opportunity to learn who this may be, as they have the exclusive agreement to obtain these jerseys.

correction on my end: one cano jersey is #14, the other is #22. lampson's 2 loas do take into account these different numbers. oddly though, both loas are dated on the exact same date, almost as if ASI's #22 Cano was authenticated as part of the same lot as Historic's #14 Cano. looking at an email I received from ASI in March 2006, i notice they were ALSO offering this jersey:

"Robinson Cano 2005 First Game Used Home Jersey Number 14 - $6999.99"

in spring training 2005, he wore #72. cano played his first game as a yankee on may 3, 2005. here he is on may 8, 2005 against the athletics:

he must've worn #14 for literally a day or so. how many #14 Cano jerseys can there possibly be?

ASI email:
"Robinson Cano 2005 First Game Used Home Jersey Number 14 - $6999.99"

Historic Auctions:
"It is our belief that this is the first home jersey he wore as a Yankee"

Again, Cano played his first game on 05/03. By 05/08 he was already wearing #22. Assuming that 05/08 was the first day he wore #22 (which is a hell of an assumption), then between 05/03 and 05/07, the Yankees played a grand total of TWO home games. here is Lampson/Historic's description of their #14 Cano jersey:

"The jersey and the tags are extremely soft due to extensive washing."

"The numerals demonstrate light puckering consistent with the overall wear of the jersey".

extensive washing and light puckering after a maximum of 2 games?!?!

the truth of the matter is that cano may not have played in ANY home games whatsoever wearing #14.

Rudy as much as it is killing me to say this I actually think its true about Cano starting off as #14 and yes it was actually just for a a couple of days.

I actually questioned a yankees staff member involved with the equipment and he confirmed that Cano in his first couple of games did indeed wear #14 and then switched to #22.

As far as the heavy washing????
Maybe Cano was so excited to be called up by the Yankees after his first Major League game he rolled around in the dirt out of joy, so they had to do some heavy washing to get the dirt out lol lol lol:D

jason,

you've missed something here. i don't doubt that cano wore #14 early on.
in fact, i know he did. what i'm saying is that he likely never played in a single game wearing a #14 home jersey. here:

- cano was called up on 05/03/2005.

- 05/03 - 05/05 the yankees were on the road in tampa bay. cano was not wearing a home jersey while on the road.

- 05/06 - 5/07 the yankees were at home against oakland. i have found an image of cano on 05/08 wearing #22. that means that, in order for the ASI/Historic to be game-worn, as they claimed, cano MUST have worn #14 on 05/06 or 05/07. that is, cano had ONLY 2 chances to wear a #14 home jersey.

i am currently in the process of trying to find out what number cano wore on 05/06 and 05/07. if he wore #22 on those 2 specific days, then the ASI/Historic #14 home jersey is a pile of doctored rubbish. (even if he wore #14 on those days, i don't see a jersey worn for 2 days would show signs of "puckering and extensive washing).

Don't know about what # he wore, but Cano went 1/4 on the 6th and 0/3 on the 7th. So he did play in those home games.
