friends,

historic auctions currently has a jersey which they label a "Robin Yount Game Used Jersey". the description reads:

"This size 44 Russell home jersey was used by Yount in the 1998 season. This coach's jersey shows moderate use and was sourced right from the Brewers organiztion. The tag in the neckline reads, "19 YOUNT 44-98."

it is authenticated by lou lampson.

yount retired after the 1993 season. the style of jersey shown in historic auctions was last used in 1993. by 1998, brewers jerseys had undergone 2 redesigns. here is a photo of the brewers in 1998:

according to lampson, yount apparently trotted out onto the field in 1998 wearing a style that none of the other brewers had worn since 1993. it seems lampson's not even remotely interested in trying anymore. similarly, i'm not even remotely interested in addressing the "sourced from the brewers" nonsense.

I am amazed that Lampson is not yet in jail. The frauds that he helps to perpetrate are just incredible!

that's a great question...who can you trust?...

here's my opinion...Meigray and, without question, this site is the best to trust...I think someone could get an opinion here as good as anywhere on a pre 91 season jersey of any sport..on a pre 91, the tagging is one of the most important things to look for...people here are very knowledgable on that

from 1992 on, again for any sport, the tagging is pretty much thrown out the window...you need videos, pictures, etc...to try and match...but still anyone can make up a photo match as well...sizing is also important...look at all the size 50 kobe bryants out there with so called correct tagging.....we have now seen in bryants locker what size he wears...but how can someone find out what size a player wears?...Personally, I would try calling an equipment manager and ask him...Even if there's a chance I wouldn't get the truth, it's still way better than anyything from Lampson

I think people really do need to do their own homework now more than ever...I'm willing to bet that 80% of the stuff we see everyday is garbage

Who can you trust? Jim Yackel and Murf Denny.

They don't authenticate, but you can bet anything that they sell and say is real is real.

Still no answer from Historic Auctions sent to their "ask a question" area on the website and personal email to James Brown
