I have been asked for my opinion on a hat that is being offered on Ebay as a "Carlton Phillies game worn 1984/5":

I have several game worn Phillies hats from 1984 and 1985. Most obtained during the regular season of play, however, a few that were obtained directly after spring training. EVERY hat I have, and those I've also seen in other Phillies collections are manufactured by Wilson. This particular hat in the Ebay auction is a ANNCO brand. Although anything is possible, this is the first time I have ever seen this brand being used during this time frame. Likewise, the 32 under the bill does not compare with other examples of Carlton's hand-written 32 as it is usually found on his bats and hats. The autograph on the top of the hat has the usual style of 32 as written by Carlton.
