Isn't Lou Lampson an expert on HOF quarterback jerseys?

Lou,
What do you think? I'm still researching photos...looks good to me at first glance.
Let me know what you think!
Thanks for reading my post!

I would call this a "photo-reference"..."photo-match may be a stretch (unless those stains could be matched up)

* helmet collectors take note: this is the first facemask in the history of the NFL. Designed by Paul Brown to protect Otto's injured mouth.

LOOKS LIKE the front #14 have been added......
the back of the jersey's #14 should have the same style as the front jersey #14

that is the one i see so far

Yes, I noticed this also. I feel like forgery is impossible in this matter. It appears the alteration was done back in the day...I rarely see vintage items altered to represent a superstar player. My gut feeling is this alteration was done by the team...but then again it could be a snow job. Still, its a real 1950s Cleveland Browns jersey.

Paul Brown's Jacket

November 15 2005, 2:18 AM

Scroll up and see the photo of Otto Graham and Paul Brown. Then see the above auction. How many great items appear on eBay first, then hit the auction houses? The number "1" is probably cropped out of the photo...This is a Canton piece. Are there any Browns fans out there?

Otto Graham game jersey?

The description lists the numbered jersey as a practice jersey. Wouldn't this be a game jersey? The other jersey would be the practice jersey if I'm not mistaken. Even if it's not a Graham game jersey it still is a Browns jersey and at that price it looks like a sweet deal.

i was just going through old threads and noticed this one. hey warren, it's not even a style match or photo reference. the font on the ebay jersey has serifs whereas the jersey in the pic doesn't. two completely different fonts!

Thanks, Rudy. I stand corrected!
The jacket later sold at AMI:
http://americanmemorabilia.com/Auction_Item.asp?Auction_ID=26467

Why was the "CLEVELAND BROWNS" on the practice jersey later photoshopped by AMI?

warren,

not sure! you can still barely see some remnants of the "cleveland browns" text. they just airbrushed it but not well enough.

even though the picture of the jersey wasn't being used to support the jacketbut it's odd and disconcerting isnt it? ami apparently sees fit to airbrush photos? what other auction photos have they airbrushed?
