I acquired this 1976 Phil Niekro jersey back in January, but just had it returned today from a private signing. Like many Braves jerseys from that era, it was recycled and used by the Richmond AAA team--thus, the change from "ATLANTA" to "BRAVES" on the front. The "ATLANTA" outline is still visible. I was able to photo match the jersey to a shot of Phil from '76. Variations in the collar stitching and the stitching around the 35 (that can be seen) are as distinct as a fingerprint when enlarged.

My guess would be a 1938 NEL game ball of a game featuring Atlanta vs the Chicago American Giants as that was the only year they were in the same NEL league together. Any logo on the ball? Heck of a find.

Virginia basketball jerseys are extremely difficult to find as all of the outgoing players have the option of keeping every jersey they've worn. Usually, UVa's anual spring jersey sale is nothing more than a few walk-ons, players kicked off the team or transfers. This year was a little different.

Most of the players the average fan has probably never heard of. But I managed to find:
Will Sherrill, Ryan Pettinella (whose claim to fame is staring as a cave man in a Capital One commercial), Gary Forbes (who played with the Nuggets), Adrian Jospeh and Tunji Soroye.

'87-'89 George Brett:

The bat has heavy barrel use, great tar and look. I moved one of my other Brett bats and replaced it with this one, as it is also unique in that it comes with a signed provenance letter from Nolan Ryan, who received the bat directly from Brett to sell and raise funds for his foundation.

I grabbed career baseball #1808 today during a Rangers long toss session at the Cell, and it came with a surprise. I don't know how many other MLB teams are doing this since this was my first game of the year, but Texas was using at least some 2016 Spring Training Baseballs (with the Arizona version of the Interstate road sign) in this drill. That's what I got, and it was a once game-used baseball on top of it (mud rub and surface wear). GUU members going to early season BP sessions might want to be on the lookout for these (or the Florida version).

Here is the new hat I just picked up. This is the hat that Omar Infante wore on Opening Day Sunday April 3, 2016 vs the Mets as the starter at second base. The Royals raised the World Series Championship flag and the game was also broadcast on ESPN that night. I am glad that MLB gave permission to the Royals to use these and the gold lettered jerseys during every Friday home game they look so nice.

2007 Ryan Braun Batting Helmet. MLB Game Used hologram to 6/1/07 - 7 days after his debut. I haven't tried to match it yet but I would imagine this is his debut helmet.

Just picked-up a Nolan Arenado game used batting helmet from his 2013 rookie season, signed on the visor! He wore this helmet from Spring Training through May 31, 2013, when he cracked it on the dome area after slamming it to the ground. This covers his first game in the majors, his first ML hit and many other after, 4 home runs, and his first major league grand slam! It has been photo matched to both his first game in the majors on April 28, 2013, and the game he cracked it on May 31, 2013. Various photos of games in between, including on shot after a home run, have been matched to the dirt caked onto the ear flap section. It has great use, to include the crack, and is still in great shape. I have been waiting for my first major game used purchase, and when this came along, I couldn't pass it up. Included are a couple of photos of the item.

I received a couple of MLB authenticated, game used hit baseballs in the mail today from two of the Twins' young sluggers.

The first is a Byung Ho Park HR baseball. Park is off to a nice start and showing a ton of power this season.

The second is Miguel Sano's 100th career hit baseball. Took a bit of luck and homework on that one but really happy to have landed it.
