That's what I thought but would a player be able to do it or is it something done only at a Rawlings facility? Cause the bat has pine tar on handle and is used (I guess maybe someone used it after the bats were made?) are these kind of bats rare or common..

Could have been done at any factory where there was need to make a duplicate, not necessarily Rawlings. The guy from XBat was selling some of his pattern bats on ebay recently. Still has quite a few listed. There were Louisville Sluggers and Rawlings bats in that mix. One of the bats I bought was a Louisville Slugger model G175 of Andruw Jones. It had a piece of tape on the front that had a large '75' written on it in marker. When I found an Andruw Jones XBat I saw that it was the model 75. The LS G175 was the model used for the XBat 75.

Not all of these bats will have the lathe marks on the knob or the measurements marked on the bats themselves. I think in some cases they just needed to use that particular model to gather the measurements in order to either make a new model or to compare to their current lineup of bats to see if they already make a bat with those dimensions.
