Ryne Sandberg minor league Jersey

I bought this jersey a couple of years ago (didn't spend much on it). It is a promotional jersey from 2006. Sandberg managed the Chiefs starting in 2007. Any thoughts why they would have issued a jersey for him in 2006? Do you think this jersey is authentic and used by Sandberg?

Any thoughts on this? Anyone have any idea how rare this jersey could be? Any input would be appreciated.

If Sandberg was not with the team in 2006 and had never been with the team prior to that, how can a 2006 jersey be issued for Sandberg? Most likely, the jersey was an unused/issued #23 for the 2006 season, and never made for Sandberg.

Why? That is most likely what it is....a #23 jersey meant for whoever wore #23 in the 2006 season.

My experience with these type of jerseys is that they are typically are autographed by the player after the game and handed to you either by the player or by the team. Since this jersey was not autographed, it is possible that it was never worn and would be an unused/issued jersey. Also, sometimes with specialty jerseys, the player may wear a different number than what he normally would wear during the season since the jersey with his normal number would not fit properly.

Anyway you look at it, I would not view your jersey as a "Ryne Sandberg minor league jersey" as you described it. I would research who wore #23 in the 2006 season and when they wore these jerseys in 2006 to determine whom was assigned to this jersey and label it as team issued.

I said scratch that because his number is retired by the Cubs. I figured that the number 23 would not be worn by anyone in the organization. Who knows I guess.

Francisco Tirado wore #23 for the Peoria Chiefs in 2006.

That was his rank, not his jersey number. I could not find anyone who wore #23 for the 2006 Chiefs. Makes sense that they would issue a jersey with #23, I guess it could be coincidence that it would be the same size as a Sandberg issued Jersey.

That's embarrassing. My bad! Here's a site that lists the numbers and 23 is nowhere to be found. There are a lot of guys without numbers though. Perhaps you can contact the Chiefs directly. Sorry for the confusion.
