View Full Version : On Dave Miedema's Health

Hello All,

Dave Miedema asked that I update GUU on his health: Since this afternoon, he has been in the hospital with dizziness and low blood pressure. He will be under observation for the next few days, to see if doctors are able to figure out what is going on medically. His responses will be delayed, but I'll give updates as they become available. I know that Dave and his family would appreciate if you would keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Leslie,

Any update on Dave's health?

Hoping Leslie can fill everybody in about Dave soon, as he is trying to find out more about his condition and said his blood pressure is still very low yet.

Dave's mom sent me a message that Dave's blood pressure is getting better. Doctor wants to get his BP to stabilize the first number over 90 3 times then he can go home. She will get the results Tuesday. He had gull stones. There were too many. The ones they got they had to blast out. His white blood cell count is lower than they would like. She also mentioned they didn't want him coming back for the same thing so the stay is longer.

Sorry for the delay in replying; I hadn't checked this thread in a couple of days. As Dave's wife filled you in (Dave's Mom passed away many moons ago), his health is still in a state of flux. There were questions about his kidney, as well as the gall stones, but I'm still waiting to hear more information. He has had a number of tests, but the blood pressure, as I understand, was the issue keeping him in the hospital. I'll try to keep you updated more frequently. Once again, my apologies.

As has been posted today by Leslie and others, I am now home, though physically a bit limnited in stamina if, for nothing else, being in a hospital bed.

One detail that didn't get mentioned is a bone marrow biopsy that was taken on Tuesday. Although the docs downplayed it earlier, they admitted that there was a concern about leukemia or lymphoma, which, I am thrilled to report, didn't appear for either one.

My thanks for the prayers and well-wishes from all of you who read and enjoy GUU. Most of all, thanks to God, who made the stay one that was nowhere near as strenuous as migh have been, and blessed me with a good recovery.

Also thanks to Leslie and to Goldin Auctions for their special gestures.

I am also sending along my prayers. Dave is a special member of our community and a loving guy. To Dave, I wish you much health and a speedy recovering. Idon't like to think of you as reclining in the starched linen of a hospital bed but rather a stinky pile of old baseball jerseys and tattered LOA's/

Not having stopped by GUU for a while I was shocked to read the title line just now. What a happy relief to see that you are home and doing better. You are one of the most generous and helpful people in the hobby, as evidenced by this huge outpouring of concern and support. Wishing you the very best with whatever rehab you might have.
