thoughts on this brett bat

the personalization is kind of a turn off, but i was curious if there are any big red flags?

I am by no means an expert but I did look at this bat and asked questions of the seller. I asked for extra pics of markings on the barrel and when I got the pics they didn't seem to be enough for the amount of tar.

However when I looked at some known Brett bats from this site, http://www.vintagebats.com/feature_page-GeorgeBrett.htm the patterns to me looked good. I would think though, that this bat wouldn've been scooped up by now if it was good to go. The lack of it selling after having been listed for so long is a red flag to me personally.

Again definitely not an expert by any means but those are my thoughts on it.

I was also curious about the cupped end. Maybe someone could chime in on that.

The LVS records do show orders of 34.5" C271(C) in both 1988 and 1989.

So the labeling period is 1986 to 1989, he only ordered 34.5" C271(C) in 88 and 89, all of which were 32 oz.

In 1988, he only ordered 2 models, C271 and C271(C) of various lengths and weights, totaling 163 bats.

In 1989, he ordered 6 different models of various lengths and weights, totaling 256 bats.

Scanning through the records, it appears he ordered cupped end bats in the later part of his career:

B351(C) 1992,1993
C271(C) 1988,1989,1990,1992,1993
P138(C) 1991,1993

Ok. Not an expert, but I do own Vintagebats 1990 Brett from the site. The two things that jump at me is the tar looks contrived. It just doesn't look right to me. Especially the way it is all over the knob. Notice that isn't how it is on any of Vintage's Brett bats? The 5 doesn't match any of the examples, either. And as a post said, the barrel pics don't match the amount of tar. Put this all together and it is a risk, IMO.
