I thought I would ask the experts on the site whether you think this Bonds game-issued Pirates jersey is legit. Something doesn't seem right about this jersey - there's no way that Bonds wore a 48 in 1992, and I don't remember ever seeing his jerseys with +3" extra length:

For comparison, I looked at a few auction results. Here is a 92 home GU that's a size 42 with no extra length:

Here is a 92 away jersey that's a 44, again with no extra length:

I wonder if someone put a new number/name on someone else's jersey, but I don't know where to look to see who might have had this kind of special order jersey. Thoughts?

I agree that the jersey is either identity-changed or a blank. The tags for the year/team are the right designs...even the red Rawlings tag with more width. The sizes, however, are not even close.

Bonds wore 42 up until the 92 season, then 42 and 44 in 92-97, 48 in 98 through 2000, 50 in 2001-2007

I should say 42 and 44 in 92, 44 in 93-97

Someone liked it, 565.00 final bid. No worries because the buyer now has 180 days to get it authenticated.

I believe the item has now been listed on american memorabilia's site as a game used jersey
