jon,

i'm no nba expert but i've looked at tags from 2005-06 "pro cut" jerseys and those purported to have been game worn and couldn't tell a difference.

here's a 2005-06 "pro cut" with the retail paper tags still attached:

here's a 2005-06 "game worn" jersey, graded A5 by mears:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300063941049

the tagging looks identical to me. since mears has said that it has never and would never apply an A5 to a retail or store model jersey, i'd be interested to know how they were able to discern that the lebron james was a gamer instead of just a procut like the jermaine o'neal. i certainly can't tell them apart.

anyway, if it's any help, here's a picture of pierce from late 2004. the tag seems to read "52".

It might be real. It looks like its tagged correctly. I don't think you can buy this at a sporting goods store. I see Pierces on eBay and at auction all the time. I rarely see current common player Celtics. Wonder why that is?
