I got a nice package in the mail today. Two A's jackets, two game used batting gloves and a cap (not game used, but team issued).

Yesterday I picked up this Helton commemorative ball from the second game on 8/17/14, the makeup from 8/16. Michael Cuddyer hit for the cycle, looking forward to getting his beautiful auto on it!

Collectors should be suspicious of any Cardinals-era McGwire that can still be used unless the provenance is iron clad. Mac had many, many bats stolen from him, especially on the road, and often before they were used. These uncracked bats, usually with incorrect pine tar patterns, flooded the collector market for years. So, my personal rule of thumb regarding McGwire is to seek a bat that is cracked or has deadwood, and is personalized -- suggesting Mac willingly gave it to someone he liked after it was used.

I recently picked up this 2005 MLB Authenticated Adam Dunn bat from rdeversole (thanks again) and spent the last week doing restoration work. The tape that was wrapped around the handle was applied soon after it broke in 2005 and I felt it needed to go. I found 2 clean handle breaks under the tape but the pieces still fit nicely together. The repair came out better than expected with no visible wood glue and absolutely no sanding or removal of any pieces of wood. The bat is slightly less tan where the tape was (this might change with time) but the pine tar and rack marks that were hidden are now on display. I wanted it to look like how it did coming off the field (no tape with the break lines visible) and the bat now feels solid as a rock. In fact, it felt good enough to take to the batting cage when swinging it around this morning. ;)

This was a practice jersey for the 1994-1995 Denver Grizzlies, an IHL expansion team that won the Turner Cup in their first (and only) season as the Denver Grizzlies. With the NHL lock-out in effect, many NHL players found their way onto minor league rosters, and the Grizzlies were certainly no exception. Unfortunately, the immediate success (both on the ice and in gate revenue) drew enough attention to revisit the concept of an NHL team again in Colorado. The Nordiques were moved to Colorado to become the Avalanche, and the Grizzlies were forced out of their new home. The team moved on to Utah, where they won the Turner Cup for a second year in a row.

Now, what's curious about the, then Utah, Grizzlies is their lack of connection to the current Utah Grizzlies. It's like the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens. The original Grizzlies moved to Cleveland, and was renamed the Lake Erie Monsters. The Grizzlies name (and trademarks) were then purchased and a different team became known as the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL.

Just recently picked up a 2014 Kris Bryant game used cracked bat. Was used during his AAA stint with the Iowa Cubs. It's a Chandler bat and is cracked on the handle. Pretty sweet bat!

Also picked up a pair of game issued autographed Kris Bryant spikes from this year! Both items are pretty cool considering the year he had in what is his first full season in pro baseball. He seems to be a pretty cool down to earth guy considering all the hype.

Two baseballs at the Cell last night: #1801 (almost mint BP baseball) and #1802, Alberto Callaspo's 15th double of the year, which was of the ground rule variety and bounced into the bullpen directly in front of me. That was my first game ball that wasn't bought or traded for from a fan since 9/11/2010 (Konerko HR).

Picked up Aledmys Diaz's first Cardinals jersey (ST 2014) tonight at the Authentics Store. They got their first batch of jerseys since Ashley took over as the new director of the store. These included a handful of 2014 spring training jerseys as well as some pre-postseason 2013 jerseys, mostly players that didn't make it through the season with the team. Interestingly, they don't come with any form of authentication.

Adding to my Adams collection. 2013 Rookie cleats with lots of use. These are going to a friend of mine. The top 2 bats are MLB auth to the same game and consecutive ABs. I have the second one matched to a bases loaded RBI single on 8-15-14. Still working on getting them all matched. Top 3 Marucci are auth but the bottom BWP are not. Last bat is uncracked. All show great use. Will post on the Adams thread with more details.

Picked up these beauties at the game last night. Game wasn't much fun but bringing these home made the 3-2 12 inning loss more bearable. The hat is Adams' 2013 postseason BP cap with some use and came from the stadium auction. The Rawlings bat was in the team store on display on the counter as well as a Carp bat. They were taking offers on them. The first Molina was in the back. The last Molina was in the stadium auction. It was in a bat tube and the workers said it was not authenticated. I looked at the date and thought it was 3-29-13 but I thought the tar was way too fresh and thick for it being that old. Ran the code and it's auth to 2013 NLCS GM6!!! Gonna have some fun photomatching this one! More pics later.

Picked up these beauties at the game last night. Game wasn't much fun but bringing these home made the 3-2 12 inning loss more bearable. The hat is Adams' 2013 postseason BP cap with some use and came from the stadium auction. The Rawlings bat was in the team store on display on the counter as well as a Carp bat. They were taking offers on them. The first Molina was in the back. The last Molina was in the stadium auction. It was in a bat tube and the workers said it was not authenticated. I looked at the date and thought it was 3-29-13 but I thought the tar was way too fresh and thick for it being that old. just picked these up yesterday. Two gamers directly from Will Middlebrooks and Daniel Nava. Super excited to get gamers from last years WS team.

The only downside was that when the MLB authenticator was putting on the stick he didn't notice the Nava sticker was misprinted. But I know its just the number below the Middlebrooks number.

-Click Post Reply.
-Type whatever you want in the body of your message (this will appear above your photos).
-Click Manage Attachments (under Additional Options)
-Click Browse to select a file from your computer (all photos must be less than 585.9 KB)
-Click Upload when you have your photos selected. You can only upload 3 photos at a time but you can add more than 3 photos to your post (just follow the Browse/Upload procedure again until you have all your photos attached). I think the limit of photos per post is 10 but can't recall the exact number.
-You can click Preview Post to see exactly what your post will look like with the text and images. If your photos are not visible in your post preview they will not be visible after hitting Submit Reply. I recommend doing this anytime you are posting photos just to make sure the images have uploaded properly and aren't gigantic.

The first is a Denard Span game used bat from this season, broken on 9/1. I believe that I might have it photo matched to this game when he hit a homerun since it was broken in the 9th.
