I got this Harridge ball at auction, and I was wondering if anyone thinks it might be fake or something. The concern pointed out to me was that the "B" and "OFFICIAL" text in the stamping look bolder/thicker than normal. I'm guessing a similar issue with parts of the Reach logo, as well. Any thoughts on how/why this is the case? If no explanation, is it possible I was duped with a fake ball?

The only thing I can add is that they now make replica baseballs from this era and all the way back to the red and blue sticthing. They are all over eBay. You may already know about those. You can hold a black light to it and should be able to see REPLICA on it.

Here is one.

I didn't see anything that would scream replica under black light. I'm sure the ball is fine. It just is one of those situations where the ball doesn't look like others from the era, so it looks "strange" comparably.

I love the old baseballs. I would bet you are good.
