When I first saw this patch I thought it had to be a replacement because it's in such good condition but then I saw some closeup photos on uniwatch and it seems to match up almost perfectly if not perfectly from the stitching to the pattern on the white part of the shield and the color (difference in the photo is due to light) and upon closer inspection there's no outline of another patch on the interior sleeve. It's a very soft and bendable patch. Any thoughts/opinions on whether it might actually be original would be appreciated. Thanks!

Patches like that were on all MLB uniforms during WW2. That particular patch was only on 1942 uniforms.

A little bit off topic but keeping with the overall theme, here is a website with all the players who served our country during WW2.

Sorry it took me a while to find the info online about the patch. I remembered it but could not find info online right away.
Here it is.
It is under PATCHES.

"The first patch to be worn on all 16 major league uniform sleeves in a given year appeared in 1939 to observe the centennial year of the game’s invention (an accepted consensus opinion — the argument continues as to whether baseball was really “invented” or evolved). Indeed, this patch was worn by all of professional baseball, including the minor leagues and it coincided with the grand opening of baseball’s Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. The World War II seasons of 1942-45 also produced a universally applied patriotic shield patch — In 1942, the word “HEALTH”, then, in subsequent war years, red stripes."
