How does the tagging look on this jersey?

Jerseys4thewin has a track record. Be very very careful.

I also bought a jersey from him a couple years ago and it turned out you could see where the name and numbers had been stripped with a different players name and number. Just be careful.

I emailed and asked for a history of the jersey and his response was that he is selling it for a collector. i responded well can you get some history from him? He responded that the person he is selling it for bought it from another collector and that he would guarantee it's authenticity 100%.

I love this hobby but there are too many if, thens.

The tags in and of themselves look OK, but that alone won't allow me to endorse this jersey. The seller is the subject of several past threads on GUU, most of which aren't pretty. Plus, if the general hobby community were comfortable with this jersey and/or seller, it would be a LOT higher than the $487 it's at now with 25 hours to go. This is one I wouldn't offer an opinion on unless I held it in hand.

Here is another 1978 blue jersey. The top photo is the Brett the other is a Frank White. In my opinion the Brett year tag looks different. I do not have any other examples to go by either.

The year tags themselves look similar for the two jerseys, but the stitching look/are different.

Yes I agree.

Both look like zigzag stitching to me, but harder to see thread on lighter blue.

I think the only way to really tell would have to be in person.

Somehow, my post is out of order from when I originally posted it. Given the murky rep of the seller and no chance to view the item in hand, I wouldn't pay $3100 for it, and the guy who did may well have got burned.

So what do we think really happened here?

The seller got an offer on the side, cancelled the listing, relisted it at the request of the buyer so they could be protected?

Or someone just bought it on the fly?

Either way it's chancy.
