Texas A&M Football Helmet

I recently bought this helmet but i dont have any idea who's it could of been ?
the seller said he got it from someone who worked in the team equipment department..

any info on the helmet would be great thanks :D

Claymore, I like the helmet. Looks like from the 1990 season when I Google pictures from that time. I found a #78 player in a group picture and the mask is a lineman's in my opinion. The date on the Schutt face mask is IHH or September 1988.

The rear white "Warning" decal matches others from the 1990 season. The front and rear Riddell stickers are spot on.

I'll keep looking for the player's name for the #78 in black marker would seem to indicate it is his helmet.

Thanks for the replys, sorry its not for sale as over here in the UK its hard to find any game used items, so i was lucky to find it !! :D

i dont know if the face mask is the original as it seems more like a running back or backfield mask as in these next pictures but i cant find a #78 #88 #99 or #2 that played that position but i might be wrong :confused:

Mark Barry wore #78 between 1987-1990 and he was an O lineman

but i cant find any pics of him

and James Brooks wore#78 between 1991-1995 on O Line

and yet again i cant find any pics of him !!


Terry Price wore #88 between 1986-1989 on D end

but the only pic i can find he was not wearing that facemask

and James McKeehan wore #88 between 1991-1994 he was a TE

the only pics i can find of him, he was not wearing that facemask


Joe Johnson wore #99 between 1987-1988 Linebacker

cant find any pics

Otis Nealy wore #99 between 1988-1992 Linebacker

and Dion Snow wore #2 between 1988-1989 Cornerback

i cant find any pics of him

and Percy Singleton wore #2 between 1991-1993 Split End

and i cant find any pics of him :(


so unless anyone has or know's where i can find old photos of the team in the late eighties early nineties....im stuck :(

I did not think it was James Mckeehan's helmet but thanks for letting me know !!

The helmet is authentic for sure. The numbers written near the earholes on the inside are locker numbers. I collect game used A&M helmets as well and this is a nice early 90's find.

Ole Miss helmets are the same way. The locker number in inside the helmet and not their jersey number.

Claymore, contact me at bgakladd@aol.com and I will send some information that might help you. The Riddell Co. is in the same state I live in (Elyria, Ohio) and I have a phone number you can call to see if it helps on the number confusion. I saw you had a reconditioning sticker and usually the black numbers that is written near the ear hole is for reconditioning purposes at their plant when it is reconditioned. Your helmet looks like it was used between 1989-1990 season. The Schutt facemask letters HHI are for the 1989 year on the facemask and a 1990 reconditioned sticker you have shown clearly indicates it was sent back to Riddell and reconditioned for the upcoming 1990 season. An underlined number in most cases indicates the player that wore it, that part is usually done at the university. I believe the ear hole numbers written inside are done at the Riddell plant in Elyria, quite possibly the person(s) responsible for inspecting it. This is the way our local high school helmets are done too when sent thru a local sporting goods store and sent back to Riddell for reconditioning. They come back with number markings such as yours does when they arrive.

1990 Texas A&M roster has Mark Barry #78. Photo of Barry on the sidelines but the helmet is hard to pick up. The game listed is 1990 against Texas. Youtube is: Texas vs. Aggy 1990 Video time is shown. I would think it is safe to say it is Barry's helmet.
