There is a "Bob McAdoo" Buffalo Braves jacket on ebay right now, with a bidder at $5,000.

This jacket was originally listed, and purchased on October, 30th,

first with a low starting bid :

then relisted sameday for a buyer, with a buy it now price of $1,000 :

You can see that the original listings did not mention any player identification, just size 42. By the time I contacted the original seller, "the-big-hangup" he was already making a deal with the buyer/reseller "justbasketball", but said he'd let me know if the deal didnt go through...
Actually talked to "the-big-hangup" aka James on the phone for a good bit, extremely cool/interesting guy, does Art Direction for TV Shows, has worked on Parks and Recreation, The Office, was Tim Robbins stand-in during the filming of Shawshank Redemption, if your curious here's his IMDB :
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1219243/

James had picked up the jacket recently, I believe a thrift store purchase, he sells a bit on ebay, small collectibles, clothing, and screen used items from his work, not a sports memorabilia collector at all. He didnt know very much about the jacket it but says he had looked it over thoroughly...

So James texted me today, to point out that it had been relisted by the buyer "JustBasketball" and to say he was shocked to see the buyer had relisted it calling it a McAdoo gamer, he said the "11" was definately not on the jacket when he shipped it out, and the buyer completely cut off contact once he shipped it off...

I personally make no claims on this item, but, I told James I would make a post on here in the chances it could protect potential buyers from possible fraud. Anyone wanting to know more about this situation, I encourage you to contact James he's more than willing to talk to anyone about this, and I am going to email him the link to this thread.

Additionally here is a link to a matching Braves/McAdoo size 46 jersey that sold at grey flannel, but its a "Size 46" :
http://catalog.greyflannelauctions.com/lot-18583.aspx

And I the second set of photos are from a well known collection I found here:

http://dickscourtroom.greyflannelauctions.com/jer1/mcadoo001.htm
I can't see the size on his McAdoo jacket but on the back the "Buffalo" appears to have more room under it, perhaps some extra length for McAdoo's 6'9" frame...

James said he is 6'3" and could barely try this size 42 jacket on, let alone wear it comfortably...

Its a shame if this jacket was tampered with....Because its such a great/rare jacket to begin with, even if no player was identified its still such a desired piece.
But as for it being McAdoo's ....the "11" was possibly added, and the jacket looks a little small comparing it to his weight/height, his previously sold Buffalo Braves jersey possibly from the same year in a size 46, and photos of a similar style McAdoo warmup appearing longer/larger...Buyer Beware

I wonder if the original seller has sellers remorse because he sold it for too cheap ?

I hadn't noticed that McAdoo was listed as the players name on the original description, I just sent James a text to see what he would say about this but hadn't heard back yet...But when I spoke to him on the phone back on Oct 30th, he didn't know if it was really from the team or not, let alone claim it was from any player. It wasn't listed under "Game Used" it was Fan Apparel, it wasn't described as "game used" or "pro model" or anything, because he said he didn't know...I looked at a different seller's "fan apparel" items out of curiosity...http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vtg-Starter-NBA-Chicago-Bulls-L-Reversible-Satin-Jacket-JORDAN-pippen-/151154576736?pt=US_Basketball_Fan_Shop&hash=item233183cd60http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-MLB-Pullover-Seattle-Mariners-Pro-Player-Sz-M-/161139043794?pt=US_Baseball_Fan_Shop&hash=item2584a2add2Above were listed under Item Specifics, Player - Michael Jordan and Ken Griffey, I don't deal in fan apparel, but perhaps its pretty common to list the notable "Franchise Player" for the Style/Era of an Item?

Sorry last post links/format didn't come thru at my work...Trying to post thru a proxy with mixed results...

So at work I have to use a proxy website to get to this GUU website because "game" is in the web address and "games" are a forbidden category according to my work filter so it doesnt allow me to get here...proxy websites are the work around but apparently they can't post correctly..
If we could make a mirror site called "Workrelated.com" it would help me out alot :)

But my point earlier today was these fan apparel jackets sometimes have players specified, so maybe this is common practice for sellers to list a franchise player :

Griffey

....However since I had the above thoery... James, the original seller, got back to me and said what happens is when he lists items he uses a feature of ebay that I'm not familiar with "sell a similar item". I've always started listings from scratch.
But I guess a shortcut for some items is something about using the "sell a similar item" feature you can use if you have something you want to list and you start by going to a similar items listing?
If you use this feature it willl preload the ebay category, item specifics, etc. and then you can edit them while your making the listing.. So when listing this item he typed in Buffalo Braves, and used one of the throwback jerseys to prefill his listing (notice the Item Specifics on the original listing also calls the jacket a jersey)
And that may be why the above examples have players associated with them too, might not be necessarily on purpose, just prefilled information copied over from a similar sold item.
