I know you guys get bored with me picking on the Famous Faking Faker of Florida, but I can't resist! Can YOU spot the glaring flaw in this "Gary Sheffield" jersey? It's a REALLY obvious one! Enjoy!

Mark,

I'll begin by stating that I am definitely not an expert on Dodgers gear -- I do not own a Dodgers jersey myself nor do I plan on buying one... but I do like to play detective. So, on what limited knowledge I possess and having done no research, I would begin with the following...

1. Did the Dodgers wear this alt. style in 2000?
2. Did Rawlings make the on-field jerseys for LA in that year?
3. Is the name on the back accurate?
4. Did Sheffield wear a size 46?
5. The "X-2000" year tag looks a bit fishy -- I have never seen a tag like this before.

My gut feeling, it's either 3, 4, or 5.

Let me know if any of the above are the right answer (or if there more than one).

Mark,

If I recall, the 10 on the front should have a white border. Am I close?

The last time i remember the Dodgers wearing the blue alternate was in 1999 i beleive,That is the same year they wore the Heroes patch on the sleeve.
Sheffield never wore a size 46 at all when he was with the Dodgers,Iam pretty sure the last time he wore a size 46 was when he played for the Brewers.

After posting my message, I thought I'd see what I can find out in 5 minutes...

1. The Dodgers did wear alt. blue in 2000.
2. Rawlings did manufacture the jerseys.

BUT

3. The front number is wrong, it should be 2-color tackle twill white & red.
4. The name on the back is the wrong font.
5. No Set tag.
6. Wrong placement for the size tag.
7. I believe the MLB patch on the back of the neck is the wrong color blue.
8. The "X-2000" tag appears to be fabricated.

I can't prove or disprove the size 46 at this point, but that may be another flaw.

Any others?

They made the jerseys for them to wear in 2000 but never did because the fox group would not let them use those jerseys for what ever strange reason?
I know that the Dodgers team store was selling these jerseys back in the days for $50.00 each.

Check this picture out of them wearing them in 2000.

Man, you guys are good...
The jump-out-and-bite-you flaw was the front ten, which should be trimmed in silver/gray, but all the talk about the NOB on the jersey sent me back to my collection to find that, while the font is correct, the arch is too severe. Dodgers NOBs (at least the ones in my collection) don't bend at this much of an angle.
Kudos to the group...unfortunately, additional knowledge is the only prize today!
BTW, be sure to check out our Faking Friend in Florida's "Ripken gamer" for the same NOB flaw!
Thanks for playing!

Today, the Faking Faker of Florida is over $330 richer, and some poor schlub thinks he's the proud owner of a Gary Sheffield Dodgers jersey.

If I lacked a soul, I could be so much richer. It isn't even funny...:(
