Hi all. I recently purchased this 1940's Packers game-worn helmet, and it was partially painted blue. I am wondering if anyone here knows of anybody who specialized in either removing paint to expose the yellow underneath, or someone who can paint yellow over the blue. I want it to appear used and not look glossy. The most important part of this helmet is the "PACKER" branding on the front, obviously. Please let me know. I can be reached at kneerat@hotmail.com

Great helmet! I've done a few restorations where I had to remove paint off of these vintage helmets, and have had very good results with Citrustrip. Just be patient with it, and use a generous amount at each pass. Make sure you mask off the areas really well, so not to remove the paint you want to keep. be careful though, you don't want the adhesive to remove the paint, when you take off the tape.

If it were my helmet, I would not paint over it, yet very patiently try and remove the paint I did not want.

Just to add, I know this is more of a 1930s-40s era leather, yet maybe someone painted the blue in it to reference the blue of the 20s era uniform?

Honestly, it looks very cool just as it is. Plus, you have the story/speculation of the Packers blue era uniform.
