Finally obtained a 1977 Mariners Bill Laxton home jersey. Is tagged "38 77" in blue thread. NOB was removed, replaced by I'm not sure what. "LAXTON" still visible. Since Laxton was winning pitcher in M's first ever win, wondering what possibility is that this was the jersey he was wearing? No way to prove, and am assuming Laxton probably had two home jerseys before being traded. I'd appreciate any thoughts on this.

Thanks!

The Mariners probably issued two home and two road to their players, which was pretty normal for the era. I doubt the M's ordered much extra...they were a pretty low-budget organization in their early years. I'd say you have a 50-50 chance of your Laxton being "the one".

Did Mariners have set tags in '77?

Unfortunately not....I have a 78 Mariners jersey as well (Steve Burke), no set tags there either. Thanks.

Thanks, Dave. Much appreciated. Perhaps they grabbed Laxton's first jersey for the HOF, but then again, this was 1977..

Actually, that's only partially true. Regular season 1977 Seattle home jerseys used uniform numbers (like the Laxton). However, the spring training versions (NNOB, also by Wilson) did.
