Thoughts on this Yankee Jersey

62871I have an opportunity to pick up this Yankee jersey. Any thoughts on the number 5 sewn on a 1998 jersey? I thought the 5 was a 1999 addition? Thanks for your thoughts.

Since the jersey is not of a star player there is a good chance the jersey was recycled from 98 for use in 99. All they needed to do is add the 5 on the sleeve.

Probably fine. I have an issued 2007 jersey (with the #10 on sleeve), but with 2006 tags. Not a big deal.
