I recently purchased a few items from the Warner Fusselle estate auction including a box labeled "Homerun Baseballs". All four balls are Official Western Carolina League balls from the early 70s which matches Warner's time as announcer for the Spartanburg Phillies.

Ball 1 is labeled:
"6-27-71 / Sumter / Jesus de la Rosa"
Baseball-Reference.com: Jesus played for the Sumter Astros in 1971 and hit 10 homeruns. He played 3 games for the Houston Astros in 1975.

Ball 2 is labeled:
"Jim Kelly / 8-2-72 / SPA @ GAS"
Baseball-Reference.com: Jim played for the Spartanburg Phillies in 1972 and hit 10 homeruns. Never played in the majors.

Ball 3 is labeled:
"5-17-72 / Stan Babieracki"
Baseball-Reference.com: Stan pitched for the Greenwood Braves in 1972 and hit 1 homerun. Never played in the majors.

Ball 4 is labeled:
"Aug 14, 1974 / @ Charleston / John Hughes / off Greg Erardi"
Baseball-Reference.com: John played for the Spartanburg Phillies in 1974 and hit 9 homeruns. Never played in the majors. Erardi played for the Charleston Pirates in 1974.

Each ball includes a copy of the estate letter of authenticity stating that the item came from the Fusselle estate. Each ball is $39 postpaid. Take all 4 for $125 and I'll include a fifth ball from the same box. It's an official Carolina League ball from the presidency of JC Bill Jessup (1957-1969). "Cosmo" is written on the side with no other clues.

Thanks, Tom
